Kent State University trustees today approved a three-year contract calling for faculty raises of 3 percent each year.
KSU's tenure-track unit of the American Association of University Professors had already approved the contract 373-19.
The tenure-track bargaining unit represents 864 faculty members at Kent State's eight campuses.
The three-year pact also offers one-time bonuses for success in reaching goals in research funding, retention of first-year students and external fundraising.
Domestic partner benefits are available under the new contract.
There will be no increase in the employee's percentage of premium contribution for health insurance in the first year. Increases in the second and third year of the pact are limited to 2 percent each year.
Faculty members will get a 3 percent raise retroactive to Aug. 24; will be eligible for a merit raise from a 3 percent merit pool in January; will get 3 percent in the second and third years of the contract; and will be eligible for a merit raise from a 1.5 percent pool in the third year.
