Summit County prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a man accused of killing a Richfield hotel clerk last month.
Dannis Lindsey, 46, has been indicted on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.
There also are two specifications for imposing the death sentence.
Lindsey will be arraigned Wednesday in Summit County Common Pleas Court.
He is accused in the Aug. 22 stabbing death of Bonnie Nevener, 59, a night desk clerk at the Holiday Inn Express on Brecksville Road. Lindsey, who also worked at the hotel, is accused of robbing and stabbing Nevener in the hotel lobby.
Lindsey called 911 about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 22 to report finding Nevener's body in a laundry room off the main lobby where she worked.
He told the dispatcher that he went to the front desk after being unable to get into a room and found Nevener's bloodied body.
Lindsey has a criminal record in Summit and Cuyahoga counties that dates back to the early 1990s. His convictions include aggravated burglary, receiving stolen property, drug abuse and drug possession.
Surveillance cameras, police said, appear to have captured the assault on video. A police source said the tape shows an arm moving in a stabbing motion.
Police said the attack occurred between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m., when Lindsey contacted them. An autopsy showed Nevener, a widow, suffered multiple stab wounds.
Lindsey, a maintenance worker at the hotel, lived in a second-story room at an adjacent Howard Johnson hotel, police said. A search warrant was used for his room and the rooftops of both hotels. Police said bloody shoes and money were recovered during the searches.
