Akron

Theft offenses

An attempted robbery was reported Sept. 8 near Brown and Tyner streets. Three men carrying a rifle approached a man and demanded money but the victim ran, reports said.

Jackie L. Husk, 41, of the 1500 block of Brittain Road, was charged Sept. 5 with theft. Reports said Husk took a cab ride, began arguing about the $7.95 cost, then pushed the driver and walked away before being tackled by the driver. While the driver held Husk down, a woman kicked the driver in the ribs and punched him in the jaw, nose and back of the head, reports said. Marcella J. Adamic, 41, of the 1500 block of Brittain Road, was charged with assault.

A burglary was reported Sept. 2 in the 2500 block of Romig Road. Someone cut a screen on a bedroom window, ransacked the apartment and took $560 cash.

Shamese J. Maddox, 20, of the 1100 block of Herman Street, was charged Sept. 8 with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping. Maddox and several juveniles were accused of entering a residence and robbing the resident at gunpoint.

Aaron D. Williams, 28, of the 100 block of Thorpe Street, was charged Sept. 8 with burglary.

Nykko T. Horn, 18, of the 1200 block of St. Michael Avenue, was charged Sept. 5 with felony theft. Police said he was stopped while driving a stolen vehicle on Jason Avenue.

Thomas L. Gaffney, 40, of the 800 block of Princeton Street, was charged Sept. 4 with burglary.

Jonathan R. Pastoria, 25, of the 600 block of Carnegie Avenue, was charged Sept. 4 with burglary.

Domestic violence/assault

Janita Brown, 30, of the 900 block of Copley Road, was charged Sept. 6 with domestic violence. According to a report, Brown hit her boyfriend in the head with a hammer.

A 23-year-old man reported being stabbed Sept. 3 in the area of East York and North Howard streets. He told police a man approached him and said, ''You ain't from around here,'' and stabbed him in the forearm with a steak knife.

Henry L. Carroll IV, 28, of the 800 block of East Wilbeth Road, was charged Sept. 5 with felony domestic violence.

Miscellaneous

Someone set fire to a front porch of a Fuller Street residence Sept. 6.

John A. Auman, 22, of the 700 block of Fultz Street, was charged Sept. 5 with aggravated menacing, obstructing official business, disorderly conduct/fighting or threatening, disorderly conduct/intoxication and handling weapons while intoxicated. Leroy Stickler Jr., 42, of the 2200 block of 18th Street Southwest, was charged with obstructing official business, disorderly conduct/fighting or threatening and resisting arrest. Police responded to a call regarding a fight and were alerted to the presence of a gun. When Stickler refused to show his hands, police tackled him and he struggled, reports said. A Taser was applied. Police said Auman lied about the presence of a gun but then directed officers to the gun, which was in a milk crate in a bedroom.

Sarina Elmore, 22, of the 100 block of Nieman Avenue, was charged Sept. 8 with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Timothy M. Newell, 19, of the 800 block of Barbara Avenue, was charged Sept. 5 with participating in a criminal gang.

Dale Flint, 36, of the 400 block of Fuller Street, was charged Sept. 4 with complicity to commit aggravated murder in connection with the murder of Gary Bolar.

Barberton

Arrests

Tony L. Jeffreys, 49, of Akron, was charged Sept. 4 with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and weaving. Police said they stopped Jeffreys on the State Street bridge after seeing his vehicle swerve over the center line several times. While searching him for weapons, an officer reported finding cocaine.

A 14-year-old Akron boy was charged Sept. 4 with robbery. He is accused of trying to steal a purse from a woman walking on East Paige Avenue near the Barberton Citizens Hospital parking deck. Police said a witness reported the teen was on a mo-ped when he drove onto the sidewalk toward the woman and grabbed her purse, but the purse fell and the teen wrecked the mo-ped. Police said he got back on the bike and fled the area, but they were able to trace the youngster through the mo-ped license number.

Suspicious activity

A Seventh Street Northwest woman reported Sept. 5 that her daughter and her daughter's three friends, ages 11 to 13, were walking home from school when a man in a white four-door car stopped and asked if they wanted a ride. The girls reported that the man asked if they wanted to go to a show and when he started to get out of his car, they ran.

Theft

A 29th Street Northwest man reported Sept. 9 that his prescription drugs were taken from his home on Sept. 7.

Copley Township

Arrests

Jason A. Logue, 34, of Jacoby Road, was charged Sept. 8 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting members of his family.

Larry Croft Jr., 32, of Mays Place, was charged Sept. 7 with assault. A 37-year-old Schocalog Road man reported that his car was damaged by Croft as he was leaving the victim's home. Witnesses said when the victim stopped Croft and pointed out the damage, Croft slammed him face-first into the driveway.

Breaking and entering

A John Deere lawn mower — still in the crate — valued at more than $5,700 was taken from Shetler's Lawn Mowers, 3500 Copley Road, on Sept. 1. The back fence of the property was pried open to remove the lawn mower.

Forgery

Two checks taken from a home in the 1300 block of Sollman Avenue were forged and cashed for $1,900. The owner of the checks suspects a relative of stealing the checks.

Theft

Between $50 and $100 in cash and bottled noncarbonated drinks were taken from a car parked in the 2600 block of Mull Avenue on Sept. 7.

A cellular phone valued at $400 was taken from a pickup parked in the 800 block of Kirkwall Drive on Sept. 7.

A Toys R Us employee reported Sept. 1 that a man tried to purchase a $399 Sony Playstation with a credit card. When the cashier asked for identification, the man grabbed the merchandise and ran from the store, leaving the credit card behind.

Coventry Township

Arrest

Louis Brennan of Silvercrest Avenue, Akron, turned himself in to Summit County sheriff's deputies Sept. 2 and was booked at the county jail on a warrant charging menacing by stalking after a South Main Street woman said she received two letters from the man, which caused her to be concerned for her safety.

Gross sexual imposition

A township resident reported Sept. 2 that her son, 7, told her that a male acquaintance had struck him repeatedly and also grabbed his genitalia.

Theft

A wiring harness, total value $700, was reported stolen off a vehicle at a South Arlington Road car lot on Aug. 26.

Cuyahoga Falls

Howard D. Juntoff, 40, of the 2300 block of Hillside Street, was charged Sept. 2 with domestic violence. Juntoff was accused of holding a woman down on a bed, putting a knee in her stomach, a gun to her head and threatening to kill her.

A 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reported stolen Aug. 31 from a park. The keys were in the console, reports said.

Michael V. Loftus, 23, of Fort Bragg, N.C., was charged Aug. 31 with domestic violence. According to reports, Loftus struck his father, causing a cut above his eye.

Fairlawn

Arrests

Jerred M. Sommerville, 23, of Akron, was arrested Sept. 7 on a felony and three misdemeanor warrants. The warrants were discovered when Sommerville was stopped for allegedly running a red light in the 2700 block of West Market Street.

Forgery

Three checks for a total of more than $2,100 were forged and cashed at CF Bank, 2923 Smith Road, on Aug. 28. The checks were presented for payment by two women.

Misuse of a credit card

A Copley Road man reported Sept. 5 that his credit card was used for three fraudulent transactions in area stores. He suspects a relative used the card.

Mark Johnson, 39, of Cottage Grove Road was jailed Aug. 31 on a domestic violence charge, accused of grabbing a woman by her arms and slamming her into a wall.

Ricky Trimby, 44, of East Nimisila Road was jailed Aug. 29 when a woman said he grabbed her hair, squeezed her head and injured her eye with his finger.

Derrick Athey, 26, of South Main Street was jailed on domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia charges Aug. 24 after a woman said she was struck in the head with a floor fan.

Hudson

Colleen Conlon, 23, of Essex Circle, was charged Sept. 7 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing marked lanes.

Larry D. Steedman, 52, of Atterbury Boulevard, was charged Sept. 6 with menacing and unlawful restraint.

Gregory F. Kostelnik, 48, of Barlow Road, was charged Sept. 2 with domestic violence.

David Edwards, 45, of the 1400 block of Gillie Drive, Streetsboro, was charged Sept. 1 with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test, driving under suspension and crossing marked lanes.

Richard Mohler, 41, of Raymond Street was jailed on a domestic violence charge Aug. 29 when a woman said she was struck in the face by the suspect as he was punching the couch on which she was sitting.

George M. Wise, 53, of Akron, was charged Sept. 7 with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test, driving under suspension and not having a rear license plate.

Cheryl Haught, 41, of Rennie Court was jailed in Summit County on Sept. 1 on a domestic violence charge after a man said she struck him in the face.

Domestic violence

Police have a domestic violence warrant for a Dunning Road resident after a motorist said he dented her car door by kicking it and broke her cell phone during an incident on West Caston Road on Sept. 2.

Norton

Sexual assault

Police are investigating a Sept. 4 report of sexual assault of a 12-year-old Norton girl by a 17-year-old relative.

Theft

Fishing lures, a battery and a fire extinguisher were taken from a boat inside a barn in the 3600 block of Easton Drive. The value of the stolen items is more than $500.

Springfield Township

Arrests

A 17-year-old Shady Acres Drive youth was booked at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of menacing and domestic menacing Sept. 2. He was accused of threatening to kill one relative and threatening to throw a rock through another relative's vehicle. He was taken into custody as he walked along Albrecht Avenue.

A 17-year-old Stevenson Avenue boy was booked at the Summit County detention center on a domestic violence charge Sept. 2. He was accused of shooting a woman in the abdomen with a pellet gun after she had become angry with him.

Thefts

Cameras, a laptop computer, diamond ring and other items, total value $8,900, were reported stolen Sept. 2 from a Rolling Meadows Lane man's pickup truck.

A Griffith Road man said Aug. 31 that three speakers and a TV/DVD/CD player valued at $650 were stolen from his van.

Patrick J. Camillo Jr., 22, of the 6300 block of Amanda Lane, Ravenna, was charged Sept. 4 with theft. Reports said Camillo tried to take pants and a belt from Kohl's, 4240 Kent Road.

A Forest Hill Road boy, 15, a Lindsey Avenue boy, 13, and a North Santom Road boy, 12, were charged Sept. 2 with arson. The three were accused of setting a picnic table on fire at Crestdale Park.

A Wilbur Road, Barberton, boy, 16, was charged Aug. 29 with two counts of rape.

Shaun M. Dunham, 29, of the 100 block of West Elm Street, Kent, was charged Aug. 30 with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test, driving under suspension, crossing marked lanes and weaving.

Timothy S. Jones, 49, of the 700 block of Eleanora Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, was charged Sept. 6 with aggravated menacing. According to reports, Jones pulled a knife, waved it in front of a man's chest and told him not to call his girlfriend.

Tia M. Smith, 24, of East Smith Road, was charged Sept. 7 with furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the unruliness of a minor. Smith is accused of serving alcohol to teens during a party at her home.

Identity theft

A Lakeview Drive man reported Sept. 6 that someone opened several credit card accounts in his name and used the cards for fraudulent transactions.

Theft

About 10 feet of copper downspouting was removed from the exterior of the Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway St., on Sept. 5.

Vandalism

Graffiti was spray painted on a memorial wall at Spring Grove Cemetery, 733 E. Washington St. The damage was reported Sept. 3.

Wadsworth

Arrests

Christopher Kemper, 21, of Trease Road, was charged Sept. 4 with domestic violence and cruelty to animals. Kemper's 20-year-old girlfriend told police Kemper took her miniature dachshund from her lap and threw the dog on the floor when she refused to let him use her car. She said he grabbed her around the throat and held her down on the couch.

Angela B. Lockhart, 37, of Rittman, was charged Aug. 29 with possession of heroin. Police investigating a report of an intoxicated woman in the 200 block of Main Street reportedly found the drug and a hypodermic syringe on Lockhart.

Burglary

A safe and other items were stolen during the burglary of a home in the 200 block of College Street between Sept. 4 and 7.

Police are investigating an apparent burglary of a home in the 100 block of Valley View Drive on Sept. 4. A basement door was pushed from its frame. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Importuning

A Rosalind Avenue mother reported a 36-year-old man has had inappropriate cellular phone and Internet contact with her 15-year-old daughter. The case was forwarded to the FBI.

Drunken Driving

Adam J. Garrett, 21, of Westerville, was charged Sept. 6 with operating a vehicle under the influence and running a red light.

Bradley M. Hill, 28, of the 3000 block of Snowshoe Circle, Stow, was charged Sept. 6 with operating a vehicle under the influence and speeding.

William H. Gadd, 21, of Fairview Park, was charged Sept. 4 with operating a vehicle under the influence and not having a rear license plate light.

Beth A. Sadowski, 26, of the 100 block of North Mantua Street, was charged Sept. 3 with operating a vehicle under the influence and speeding.

Miscellaneous

Kurt J. Snyder, 18, of Willowick, was charged Sept. 6 with prohibitions and aggravated possession of drugs. Police said Snyder dropped a plastic bag they believe contained Ecstasy.

Robert A. Sargent, 21, of the 6200 block of Fifth Avenue, was charged Sept. 4 with burglary.

Crystal M. Goodwin, 27, of the 1000 block of Erin Drive, was charged Sept. 4 with domestic violence after she was accused of assaulting the father of her child.

Rene M. DeLong, 38, of the 100 block of Hillcrest Street, was charged Sept. 6 with domestic violence. She was accused of hitting her son and cutting his cheek.

Andrea D. Firtik, 31, of Warren, was charged Sept. 5 with breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and vandalism.

Arrests

William Schmitt, 24, of Groton Street Northwest was booked at the Stark County Jail on Sept. 1 on charges of assault and criminal mischief. He was accused of hitting a woman in the face and shoving her head into a bath tub during an an argument at a Hills and Dales Road Northwest residence.

Sherry Hill, 43, of McGregor Avenue Northwest, Canton, was charged with felony theft Aug. 28. She is accused of taking $550 cash from a Jackson Township business and at least an additional $12,000 in small increments over several months.

Thefts

A Canton man told police Sept. 3 that he left his wallet on the counter of a Belden Village shoe store and when he returned the wallet with $1,500 cash was gone.

Windows of four vehicles at a Whipple Avenue Northwest car lot were smashed between Aug. 29 and 30 and stereo equipment, total value $750, was taken.

Lake Township

Arrest

Joseph LaPinta, 20, of Market Avenue North was booked at the Stark jail Sept. 2 on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in North Canton dating back to July 2007.

North Canton

Arrests

Jason Corbett, 23, of Woodside Avenue Southeast was jailed Sept. 2 on felony receiving stolen property and forgery charges. He was accused of possessing stolen checks and forging signatures to obtain cash.

A 15-year-old New Albany boy was booked into the Stark County Attention Center on Aug. 30. He was accused of shooting a 14-year-old boy in the face twice and once in the elbow with a BB gun near the intersection of Holl Road and Overland Street Northeast.

Assault

A North Canton Middle School staff member told police she was punched in the abdomen by a student Aug. 29 as she tried to send him to the principal's office.

Theft

Six decorative caps, total value $600, were stolen between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 from the Herbert W. Hoover bridge in the 1500 block of South Main Street.

Plain Township

Arrests

Lyle Wynn, 48, of Orchardale Drive Northwest was booked at the Stark County jail Sept. 4 on a domestic violence charge. He was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and pushing her to the ground.

James Ducker, 36, of Edelweiss Street Northeast was jailed in Stark County on Sept. 2 on charges of criminal simulation and passing bad checks.

Michael Fearence, 19, of Morris Avenue Northeast was jailed on a domestic violence charge. He is accused of grabbing a woman, pushing her into a wall and threatening to kill her.

Uniontown

Arrest

Wendell Harris, 42, of Broadvista Boulevard was jailed Sept. 2 on a domestic violence charge after a woman said she was struck several times and held against a wall.

Theft

A Hartville woman said a business check and cash, for a total loss of $603, were taken from her purse in the trunk of her car while the vehicle was in an Edison Street business parking lot.

Arrest

Charles Malone, 26, of Akron was arrested Sept. 8 on a charge of felony domestic violence. He was accused of beating his 26 year-old girlfriend in the chest and arms at a residence in the 13000 block of Emerson Road, Sugar Creek Township.

Burglary

A safe with $500 was taken Sept. 1 from a residence in the 5900 block of East Lincoln Way, East Union Township.

A pry bar was used to open a steel door Sept. 9 at Joe's Garage, 10603 Back Orrville Road, Green Township, but nothing was taken.

A safe valued at $2,500 was taken Sept. 10 from Southwood Lumber, 8849 E. Lincoln Way, East Union Township.

Tools valued at $755 were taken Sept. 10 from a home under construction in the 11600 block of Hametown Road, Chippewa Township.

Criminal Damaging

Someone caused $300 in damages Aug. 31 to a gate at a farm in the 13900 block of Hatfield Road, Chippewa Township.

Theft

A stereo, lights and other items, total value $930, were taken Aug. 30 from a car in the 8100 block of West Easton Road, Congress Township.

A decorative flag and a mailbox valued at $600 were taken Aug. 30 from a residence in the 6000 block of Hoy Road, Franklin Township.

A generator and a wheel cart valued at $1,105 were taken Aug. 30 from a garage in the 5300 block of Taylor Road, Chippewa Township.

Misuse of Credit Card

In July, a man used a credit card belonging to his ex-wife of Baughman Township and charged items valued at $1,360.

Wooster

Breaking and Entering

A weed trimmer, a pitchfork and a gas can valued at $255 were taken Aug. 30 from a shed in the 1500 block of Gasche Street.

A safe, $200 in cash and 15 Wayne County Fair tickets valued at $330 were taken Aug. 30 from Lerch's Donuts, 2312 Akron Road.

A thief took $210 in cash Sept. 5 from Dave's Barber Shop, 1987 Portage Road.

A 4-year-old Akita was taken Sept. 5 from Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Road.

Burglary

Two rolls of quarters, a coin collection and prescription drugs were taken Sept. 1 from a residence in the 4000 block of Cleveland Road.

An ashtray, a cell phone and a magnifying glass were taken Sept. 2 from a residence in the 300 block of East Bowman Street.

Clothing valued at $380 was taken Sept. 2 from a residence in the 4100 block of Melrose Drive.

Prescription tablets valued at $200 were taken Sept. 5 from a residence in the 300 block of West Vine Street.

Theft

The ex-wife of a 41-year-old man took a book of checks from a residence in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue and paid for items valued at $7,818.

A 14-year-old Akron boy was charged Sept. 4 with robbery. He is accused of trying to steal a purse from a woman walking on East Paige Avenue near the Barberton Citizens Hospital parking deck. Police said a witness reported the teen was on a mo-ped when he drove onto the sidewalk toward the woman and grabbed her purse, but the purse fell and the teen wrecked the mo-ped. Police said he got back on the bike and fled the area, but they were able to trace the youngster through the mo-ped license number.

Suspicious activity

A Seventh Street Northwest woman reported Sept. 5 that her daughter and her daughter's three friends, ages 11 to 13, were walking home from school when a man in a white four-door car stopped and asked if they wanted a ride. The girls reported that the man asked if they wanted to go to a show and when he started to get out of his car, they ran.

Theft

A 29th Street Northwest man reported Sept. 9 that his prescription drugs were taken from his home on Sept. 7.

Copley Township

Arrests

Jason A. Logue, 34, of Jacoby Road, was charged Sept. 8 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting members of his family.

Larry Croft Jr., 32, of Mays Place, was charged Sept. 7 with assault. A 37-year-old Schocalog Road man reported that his car was damaged by Croft as he was leaving the victim's home. Witnesses said when the victim stopped Croft and pointed out the damage, Croft slammed him face-first into the driveway.

Breaking and entering

A John Deere lawn mower — still in the crate — valued at more than $5,700 was taken from Shetler's Lawn Mowers, 3500 Copley Road, on Sept. 1. The back fence of the property was pried open to remove the lawn mower.

Forgery

Two checks taken from a home in the 1300 block of Sollman Avenue were forged and cashed for $1,900. The owner of the checks suspects a relative of stealing the checks.

Theft

Between $50 and $100 in cash and bottled noncarbonated drinks were taken from a car parked in the 2600 block of Mull Avenue on Sept. 7.

A cellular phone valued at $400 was taken from a pickup parked in the 800 block of Kirkwall Drive on Sept. 7.

A Toys R Us employee reported Sept. 1 that a man tried to purchase a $399 Sony Playstation with a credit card. When the cashier asked for identification, the man grabbed the merchandise and ran from the store, leaving the credit card behind.

Louis Brennan of Silvercrest Avenue, Akron, turned himself in to Summit County sheriff's deputies Sept. 2 and was booked at the county jail on a warrant charging menacing by stalking after a South Main Street woman said she received two letters from the man, which caused her to be concerned for her safety.

Gross sexual imposition

A township resident reported Sept. 2 that her son, 7, told her that a male acquaintance had struck him repeatedly and also grabbed his genitalia.

Theft

A wiring harness, total value $700, was reported stolen off a vehicle at a South Arlington Road car lot on Aug. 26.

Howard D. Juntoff, 40, of the 2300 block of Hillside Street, was charged Sept. 2 with domestic violence. Juntoff was accused of holding a woman down on a bed, putting a knee in her stomach, a gun to her head and threatening to kill her.

A 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reported stolen Aug. 31 from a park. The keys were in the console, reports said.

Michael V. Loftus, 23, of Fort Bragg, N.C., was charged Aug. 31 with domestic violence. According to reports, Loftus struck his father, causing a cut above his eye.

Jerred M. Sommerville, 23, of Akron, was arrested Sept. 7 on a felony and three misdemeanor warrants. The warrants were discovered when Sommerville was stopped for allegedly running a red light in the 2700 block of West Market Street.

Forgery

Three checks for a total of more than $2,100 were forged and cashed at CF Bank, 2923 Smith Road, on Aug. 28. The checks were presented for payment by two women.

Misuse of a credit card

A Copley Road man reported Sept. 5 that his credit card was used for three fraudulent transactions in area stores. He suspects a relative used the card.

Theft

Fishing lures, a battery and a fire extinguisher were taken from a boat inside a barn in the 3600 block of Easton Drive. The value of the stolen items is more than $500.

A 17-year-old Shady Acres Drive youth was booked at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of menacing and domestic menacing Sept. 2. He was accused of threatening to kill one relative and threatening to throw a rock through another relative's vehicle. He was taken into custody as he walked along Albrecht Avenue.

A 17-year-old Stevenson Avenue boy was booked at the Summit County detention center on a domestic violence charge Sept. 2. He was accused of shooting a woman in the abdomen with a pellet gun after she had become angry with him.

Thefts

Cameras, a laptop computer, diamond ring and other items, total value $8,900, were reported stolen Sept. 2 from a Rolling Meadows Lane man's pickup truck.

A Griffith Road man said Aug. 31 that three speakers and a TV/DVD/CD player valued at $650 were stolen from his van.

A Lakeview Drive man reported Sept. 6 that someone opened several credit card accounts in his name and used the cards for fraudulent transactions.

Theft

About 10 feet of copper downspouting was removed from the exterior of the Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway St., on Sept. 5.

Vandalism

Graffiti was spray painted on a memorial wall at Spring Grove Cemetery, 733 E. Washington St. The damage was reported Sept. 3.

Christopher Kemper, 21, of Trease Road, was charged Sept. 4 with domestic violence and cruelty to animals. Kemper's 20-year-old girlfriend told police Kemper took her miniature dachshund from her lap and threw the dog on the floor when she refused to let him use her car. She said he grabbed her around the throat and held her down on the couch.

Angela B. Lockhart, 37, of Rittman, was charged Aug. 29 with possession of heroin. Police investigating a report of an intoxicated woman in the 200 block of Main Street reportedly found the drug and a hypodermic syringe on Lockhart.

Burglary

A safe and other items were stolen during the burglary of a home in the 200 block of College Street between Sept. 4 and 7.

Police are investigating an apparent burglary of a home in the 100 block of Valley View Drive on Sept. 4. A basement door was pushed from its frame. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Importuning

A Rosalind Avenue mother reported a 36-year-old man has had inappropriate cellular phone and Internet contact with her 15-year-old daughter. The case was forwarded to the FBI.

William Schmitt, 24, of Groton Street Northwest was booked at the Stark County Jail on Sept. 1 on charges of assault and criminal mischief. He was accused of hitting a woman in the face and shoving her head into a bath tub during an an argument at a Hills and Dales Road Northwest residence.

Sherry Hill, 43, of McGregor Avenue Northwest, Canton, was charged with felony theft Aug. 28. She is accused of taking $550 cash from a Jackson Township business and at least an additional $12,000 in small increments over several months.

Thefts

A Canton man told police Sept. 3 that he left his wallet on the counter of a Belden Village shoe store and when he returned the wallet with $1,500 cash was gone.

Windows of four vehicles at a Whipple Avenue Northwest car lot were smashed between Aug. 29 and 30 and stereo equipment, total value $750, was taken.

Joseph LaPinta, 20, of Market Avenue North was booked at the Stark jail Sept. 2 on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in North Canton dating back to July 2007.

Jason Corbett, 23, of Woodside Avenue Southeast was jailed Sept. 2 on felony receiving stolen property and forgery charges. He was accused of possessing stolen checks and forging signatures to obtain cash.

A 15-year-old New Albany boy was booked into the Stark County Attention Center on Aug. 30. He was accused of shooting a 14-year-old boy in the face twice and once in the elbow with a BB gun near the intersection of Holl Road and Overland Street Northeast.

Assault

A North Canton Middle School staff member told police she was punched in the abdomen by a student Aug. 29 as she tried to send him to the principal's office.

Theft

Six decorative caps, total value $600, were stolen between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 from the Herbert W. Hoover bridge in the 1500 block of South Main Street.

Lyle Wynn, 48, of Orchardale Drive Northwest was booked at the Stark County jail Sept. 4 on a domestic violence charge. He was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and pushing her to the ground.

Michael Fearence, 19, of Morris Avenue Northeast was jailed on a domestic violence charge. He is accused of grabbing a woman, pushing her into a wall and threatening to kill her.

Charles Malone, 26, of Akron was arrested Sept. 8 on a charge of felony domestic violence. He was accused of beating his 26 year-old girlfriend in the chest and arms at a residence in the 13000 block of Emerson Road, Sugar Creek Township.

A safe with $500 was taken Sept. 1 from a residence in the 5900 block of East Lincoln Way, East Union Township.

A pry bar was used to open a steel door Sept. 9 at Joe's Garage, 10603 Back Orrville Road, Green Township, but nothing was taken.

A safe valued at $2,500 was taken Sept. 10 from Southwood Lumber, 8849 E. Lincoln Way, East Union Township.

Tools valued at $755 were taken Sept. 10 from a home under construction in the 11600 block of Hametown Road, Chippewa Township.

Criminal Damaging

Someone caused $300 in damages Aug. 31 to a gate at a farm in the 13900 block of Hatfield Road, Chippewa Township.

A stereo, lights and other items, total value $930, were taken Aug. 30 from a car in the 8100 block of West Easton Road, Congress Township.

A decorative flag and a mailbox valued at $600 were taken Aug. 30 from a residence in the 6000 block of Hoy Road, Franklin Township.

Misuse of Credit Card

In July, a man used a credit card belonging to his ex-wife of Baughman Township and charged items valued at $1,360.

A weed trimmer, a pitchfork and a gas can valued at $255 were taken Aug. 30 from a shed in the 1500 block of Gasche Street.

A safe, $200 in cash and 15 Wayne County Fair tickets valued at $330 were taken Aug. 30 from Lerch's Donuts, 2312 Akron Road.

A thief took $210 in cash Sept. 5 from Dave's Barber Shop, 1987 Portage Road.

A 4-year-old Akita was taken Sept. 5 from Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Road.

Two rolls of quarters, a coin collection and prescription drugs were taken Sept. 1 from a residence in the 4000 block of Cleveland Road.

The ex-wife of a 41-year-old man took a book of checks from a residence in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue and paid for items valued at $7,818.
