Curtis donates $90,000 to Kent State

By Associated Press

KENT: Golfer Ben Curtis has chipped in some big money to his alma mater.

Curtis, a former Kent State All-American and the 2003 British Open champion, has given the school $90,000 and donated another $110,000 to charities.

Curtis is a rookie on this year's U.S. Ryder Cup team which will be facing a heavily favored European team this week at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

As part of the event, the PGA of America will distribute $2.6 million on behalf of the U.S. Team to designated charities, the Folds of Honor Foundation and to colleges and universities chosen by the U.S. captain and players.

Curtis graduated from Kent State in 2000.
