A longtime veteran of the Akron planning department has been tapped to replace Warren Woolford as the city's planning director.
John Moore, 48, has been appointed interim director of the department of planning and urban development.
Moore, who joined the planning department as an intern in 1983 and has held numerous positions, was most recently the city's zoning manager.
In addition to his zoning manager duties, Moore also managed the agendas of the Akron Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals.
A graduate of the University of Akron, Moore is married and the father of three children.
He replaces Woolford, who officially retired today after more than 36 years with the city.
Moore will be paid $106,891 annually.

WQelp hope your planning is better than the last person who did the job
I'm glad to see that a long-time supporter of Don got the job.
