Power outages strike Akron City Hospital

By Beacon Journal staff report

Sporadic power outages have been affecting portions of Akron City Hospital since late Saturday and continued today, a hospital spokesman said.

FirstEnergy Corp. crews are working on the problem, said Mike Bernstein, spokesman for Summa Health System, City Hospital's owner.

''All medical equipment is working normally, and there's absolutely no interruption to patient care,'' Bernstein said.

Although most of the outage only affected the West side of the hospital, there was only brief interruptions of power. The patients did not go without food and water. Patient care was also not effected. Summa has generators running during this time as well.
However I think if it was on First Energy end, it would have been fixed yesterday, when this first started. Don't forget about the storm from Ike. First Energy was the first to have all 1 million plus, customers up and running, even though it took some time.
I think Summa should be at fault due to the fact this problem started yesterday evening. They are the ones to blame, that is, if your going to point fingers.
But do remember, that Summa has the man power and the willingness of it's employees to cover such situations.
