By Beacon Journal staff

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and the New Franklin Police Department are investigating the death of a man struck by a tree limb Monday morning.

Investigators said Joe Beckman, 33, of Kellogg Avenue, Akron, was working with Coventry Tree Service, cutting limbs in the 2100 block of West Nimisila Road in New Franklin.

Investigators said they were told Beckman was lowering a branch to the ground when the branch split and struck him.

He was pronounced dead at 10:23 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
