Special guests planned for Devo Civic show

The Black Keys, West Akron blues/rock duo and professed lifelong Devo fans, will be the opening act for Devo's upcoming Duty Now for the Future benefit concert to be held at the Akron Civic Theatre on Oct. 17.

The concert, a benefit for the Summit County Democratic Party, will be Devo's first performance in Akron in 30 years.

Additionally, according to Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh, fellow Akronite and Pretenders leader Chrissie Hynde may also make an appearance at the show if her schedule allows.

Get off of Hynde. Seriously. She opened a restaurant here in Akron, which is helping at least in some way, our floundering economy. It's better than nothing, and most likely putting more money back into our cities economy than any of you putting her down. Anyways...Looking forward to this show, and the Black Keys being there is just the icing on the cake.

Can the reporters get their facts straight?

First, this was reported as a fund raiser for Obama. Now it is being reported as a fund raiser for the Summit County Democrat Party.

Chirssy Hinde has insulted this Ohioan at the Civic Theatre before, and I don't care! I like her music and I like her food, too. The Vegiterranean is wonderful and affordable.

I'm heading to the concert because of my out of town friend, she wants to see Devo. Well, she IS young!
