Gunman robs Akron delivery driver

By Beacon Journal staff

A delivery driver for Ju Wuan Kitchen told Akron police that he was robbed by a gunman and his accomplice as he was making a delivery in the 500 block of Whitney Avenue on Saturday night.

The driver reported that around 8:30 p.m. two suspects met him in the front yard of the house at which he was making a delivery. One suspect put a gun in his stomach and demanded the food. The suspects fled through the back yard with the food.

The two suspects were described as black males 20 to 25 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds. One suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Akron Police Department detective bureau at 330-375-2490.

I am a black female, and I am even disgusted at these situations. Everytime i order a pizza, they have to call me to make sure everything is on the up and up! this is getting to be crazy! You wont be satisfied untill they wont deliver food preiod anymore!!! GET IT TOGETHER AKRON!!!

I guess some people just feel entitled to take whatever they want whenever they want. I would never offer delivery service.

If I owned a restaurant that offers delivery, I'd be thinking about discontinuing that service. Those poor drivers are prime targets for robberies. What, pay for food?? What a concept.

I agree - places need to stop delivering they're drivers are targets for this and it's going to get worse.

I assumed the format for these comments was changed because the posters were getting out of hand with their comments. But still the Akron Beacon Journal has to add a comment like..."One suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt." Why even add that? Who cares? Do you want everyone that chooses to wear a black hooded sweatshirt to be a suspect? Does it really add enough detail to enable them to be caught. Ignorance begets ignorance. So if you want it to stop...stop it at the source. You encourage the very ignorance that you try to sensor. I hope this gets to the right person!

Please get over yourself Stephanie. If I were a young black man and didn't want to be a suspect, ever, I would NOT wear a black hooded sweatshirt. But I guess if I were a young black man, I would not care.

When are these places going to stop delivering? I know the food is not worth that much, but next time someone may just lose their life. What kind of people feel so entitled they can take whatever they want, whenever they want?

To Colleen:

Why should these places have to stop delivering because of thugs? I say the police patrol these neighborhoods(or should I say "hoods") so this does not happen. Why should the businesses suffer because of worthless YBM gutter trash?
