CANTON: With less than two weeks remaining in the presidential campaign, Democratic candidate Barack Obama plans to lay out his closing argument today in Canton.
Aides say Obama will make the economic policy speech at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 12:30 p.m. at 1101 Market Ave. N. The public entrance for Obama's appearance is through the McKinley Lobby.
Behind the scenes, advisers were preparing the 30-minute advertisement he planned to air Wednesday on national TV networks as part of that last pitch, and also were mapping the transition to the White House.
Poll numbers show Republican presidential candidate John McCain trailing Obama nationally and in key states, including Iowa. A Newsweek poll released Saturday showed Obama with a 13-point lead nationally.
Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant said in a statement Sunday that Obama's closing arguments ''ignore voters' underlying concerns about his inexperience.''

GO OBAMA!!!!!!!
Be awre of the following as the campaign grinds to an end....
During the 2000 campaign, on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” a young woman asked McCain why her father, a doctor, should be “penalized” by being “in a huge tax bracket.” McCain replied that “wealthy people can afford more” and that “the very wealthy, because they can afford tax lawyers and all kinds of loopholes, really don’t pay nearly as much as you think they do.” The exchange continued:
YOUNG WOMAN: Are we getting closer and closer to, like, socialism and stuff?. . .
MCCAIN: Here’s what I really believe: That when you reach a certain level of comfort, there’s nothing wrong with paying somewhat more.
And today he critisizes Obama for stating the EXACT same thing!!!
Well that's been McCain's strategy the whole campaign. I think in his old age he forgets what he has said before and that's not a good quality to have as president.

As I roam the varius forums reading comments from both sides, the one thing that iritates me the most are those people being dishonest to themselves. I'm voting for Obama - I wont deny that - but I will vote for him mainly because I do not like what's happened the last 8 years and I simply don't believe McCain can suddenly become the Angel of Change after he has spent the last 8 years in Bush's pocket.
But what bothers me the most is the continuous revision of truth that people post to defend their choices. Just to name a few; Obama was born in Kenya, Obama is a terrorist, Obama is a Muslim, Obama is a socialist...
If you truly can't stand the man, don't trust him, and want to vote against him; vote for McCain because Obama is Black, or because he is a Democrat, or because he is a Liberal. THOSE facts are true. Don't lie to yourself and everyone else to make yourself feel better.

The Obamanation will turn into an ABOMANATION!
I'm voting for McCain, but I will vote for BO as soon as he can prove he was born in this country. The one posted on his site was proved to be fraudulent.

Also, please note the announcement in the newspaper near the end of the article.

Obama: "[O]ne of the, I think, the tragedies of the civil rights movement, was because the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still stuffer from that." Ignore Craig, I think he works for the McCain campain and perpetuates the CRAZY lies in hopes that somebody will believe them without actually thinking about it.
Typical desperation politics.
It is frightful that there seems to be one or two others who fall for this on here!
BC, Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Hopefully the PA lawsuit will stop this Kenyan from being elected.

And the beacon journal is endorsing alomst every Democratic candidate for judge in Summit County, even though the bar calls them adaquet while many Republicans are considered Highly qualified. Go figure. They are also Endorsing Sherri Walsh who has been the worst Prosecutor in the history of Summit County and can only get a Police endorsement from the FOP organizations that invite only her to the interview. go figure.
Bill ignorantly stated:
"but I will vote for BO as soon as he can prove he was born in this country. The one posted on his site was proved to be fraudulent."
Are you always this stupid? Or just when posting on internet forums? You DO realize if he wasn't, he wouldn't be allowed to run for President. Oh, if you did, you wouldn't have made such a stupid comment. But then again, I am assuming.
Oh -- and who said it was fradulent? Rush Limbaugh? HA! Please Republicans. Stop your immature antics and face reality: you're about to get your clock cleaned (and rightfully so) on Election Day.
Big City, I am totally in favor of a flat tax rate. If this were enacted, the wealthiest would pay more, but the person making $10,000 must pay the same percentage. What I am against is giving free healthcare to those who won't work and giving a rebate check to those who don't work. I realize this has been the strategy of the democrats for decades, but this needs to stop. I am also against raising taxes and spending it on new gov't programs, gutting the military, and robbing Social Security so there can be a surplus when I leave office, I don't believe in blocking drilling so that we continue to be raped by the middle east, I don't believe in doubling the capital gains tax and taxing all our utilities, deciding who makes too much money and needs their taxes raised, I don't believe in fining businesses who can't afford to give their employees healthcare, I don't believe in a party whose last president did nothing to get rid of Bin Ladden when he had the time, or when the USS Cole was attacked, the World Trade Center was bombed the first time, when our embassy's were bombed.
Nice try Craig, but it seems your simply doing what many do, and what I said bothered me in my earlier post - attempt to change the facts to make yourself feel better. It's an old line, but I'll defend your right to vote for anyone you like - but I don't have to put up with lies.

Hateraders and Bitter people on this board. No matter who wins we will all have to deal with it on November 5th. The hatred coming from the republican party is sad and sickening. McCain calls himself a maverick but his campaign shows something different. This was the worse election I have ever seen in my lifetime. I am an Obama supporter and if McCain wins I will support him as well.
Craig spewed:
"Hopefully the PA lawsuit will stop this Kenyan from being elected."
Good Lord. You ignorant Republicans just don't stop huh? What a bunch of losers you are. Shouldn't you be listening to losers like Limbaugh or Hannity so those losers can tell you how to think.
Grow up Craig. But then again, you're pretty ignorant, so growing up probably isn't top on your list either.
To the poster who didn't leave his name at 12:23...
Your paragraph is, I'm sure you would agree, is right out of the Republican playbook. It states every accusation, and every thing that the GOP wants people to believe about Obama - fear tactics.
See; the difference here is when we state we don't think McCain can suddenly be the Angel of Change, we're simply accepting what we already know of him from his history of voting with Bush. We don't attack his patriotism, we don't call him names, we simply look at his record, and his choices (like Palin) and conclude he can't offer anything "new" that will help our current situation.
The Republicans and GOP however, are willing to accuse Obama of anything that might convince even one voter to vote against him out of fear, true or not. Their actions have nothing to do with what the country needs - only what the GOP/Republicans want.
A damn shame really.
BC
Seriously, ignore Craig's comments just like you would ignore a person on the street yelling "the sky is falling!". It is so absurd that either he is just poking fun to get a rise out of sane people or he is legitimately mentally challenged.
We all gonna be riding dirty with BHO for 4 yrs and I can't wait for my tax credit
Getting a rise out of me would be a monumental task, lol. Intelligence and a calm and focused approach to adversity always wins out. Obama has proven that.
BC
A much higher percent of black Republicans are voting for Obama than white Democrats are voting for McCain. Why is that not racism?
adonis,
I have to ask, "why play the race card?"
No one here has brought race up to this point. I have to assume you felt you couldn't win based on the subject at hand, so you throw in the race card to recenter things to something you think you CAN win.
As far as I am aware, there are no laws saying blacks OR white have to vote for anyone - just like there are no laws that say Italians can't vote for Germans, and Greeks can't vote for Turks.
We are free to vote for who we want, and since I'm Italian I might lean toward an Italian condidate if he represented what I believed in.
Try sticking with the issues that matter to most people. That is exactly why Obama IS winning this campaign - he's focused on those things we care about - while folks like you are more concerned about the issues that simply do not matter.
BC
I just hope BHO's final argument will be that he gives up the election to McCain. We have heard enough from his muslim mouth. I can not even imagine how this country will be run with him in office. God forbid!! Oh yeah that's something else he doesn't believe in. Certain people are making this a racist election.
Too bad the liberal can't respond without name calling. The ONLY reason you are voting for Obama is because you hate the republicans. Seriously, you can't believe he is qualified.
LoL Nancy,
Well you have the right to vote for whoever you wish, but I do have to ppint out two "untruth's" in your rant..
1. He's not Muslim
2. He does believe in God
There is a thing called "religious racism" that has a far longer history than "cultural racism". and they BOTH are racism.

Name calling? Interesting - I'd like to see what you call "name calling" :)
And don't assume you know why I'm voting for Obama - you might embarass yourself. I actually have very good Republican friends - some of which are voting for Obama as well.
As far a qualifications... do you measure qualifications as Ms. Palin does? Time as an administrator? She critisizes Obama because he never served as a Mayor or Governor.
Rather than ask me if Obama is qualified, ask yourself if Ms. Palin would be ready if, say by Jan 15th 2009, she had to take over the office?
I would much rather put my trust in Obama - having seen how he has handled himself during the campaign - than risk my future on McCain (not even mentioning Palin) watching their desperation take over their emotions.
BTW, namecalling has risen to new heights during this campaign. And it all started years ago with Rush Limbaugh. What I find more than interesting is the "Liberals" as you call them, have kept most of their comments above board while the GOP side seems to think name calling is a good thing to do - but can't handle it the few times they get it back.
The people have finally seen thru the fog, my friend. If Obama and company do anything NEAR a decent job, it will be a generation before you guys get another chance :)

To Craig.
Obviously your old enough to vote, so you can vote for whoever, but sarcasm is never needed. Your very Rude, and that wasent funny.
How would you feel if someone said, "I would vote for McCain, but he's 72 years old, he's practically laying on his death bed!!"
You wouldnt think it's funny, would you?
