Fans voted the Acme-Zip Game as the most memorable Rubber Bowl event in a contest sponsored by the University of Akron, Akron Beacon Journal and Ohio.com. The game, played annually from 1954-2001, captured nearly 50 percent of the votes.
The City Series football championship games played Thanksgiving morning were in second place, followed by various athletic and musical events.
The contest winner, Paul Dort of Canal Fulton, will receive a prize package for the 2009 football home opener at InfoCision Stadium. The Zips will play Indiana University on Sept. 19.
