Prepare for more snow starting today

By Beacon Journal staff report

A big storm heading this way could drop several inches of snow in the Akron area by the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Erie Snow Advisory through 4 a.m. Saturday that calls for varying amounts of snow, depending on the location.

For example, the weather service said 3 to 7 inches of snow could fall before Friday night in Akron. But Macedonia, in northern Summit County, could see 7 to 11 inches.

Other amounts forecast by the weather service include:

• 5 to 9 inches in Cuyahoga Falls.

• 7 to 11 inches in Stow.

• 5 to 10 inches in the Ravenna area in Portage County.

• 2 to 4 inches in the Clinton area in southern Summit County.

In the snowbelt area of Geauga County, the weather service said 11 to 20 inches are possible.

Ummm...ODOT, you are listening? It's going to snow. Hopefully this is enough advance warning for you that you can manage to put a little brine on the roads and then salt them later?

Alright people....put on your racing tires and lets get it on on Route 8 tonight!!

HAHA. I cringe as these idiots pass me in their little rear wheel drive car. Then I laugh when I pass them in my 4x4 truck and they are in the ditch, median, or cement barrier!! HAHAHAHA

I urge everyone to throw caution to the wind and let 'er rip on the afternoon commute. Please exceed posted speed limits, change lanes frequently for no reason and do not practice patience -- after all, the only one stuck going slower than they'd like because of the weather is you! Slam on the brakes and jerk the wheel around, use the throttle like it's an on/off switch and please lean on the horn! Let's see if we can plug up every main artery with stupid accidents! Come on, people!

Why is it that snowstorms and stupidity seem to blend so well?

Wouldn't it be nice if the people who drive so carelessly actually read the newspaper ... or on-line comments? Unfortunately, they're probably a lot of brawn and not much brain.

The sooner people learn to navigate Route 8 properly, the better off we'll be in March when we get our annual blizzard.

Here in Arizona, it's going to be 85 today. I think I'll go for a swim then throw a couple of steaks on the grill. 'Hope all you NE Ohio folks suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder don't have a bad time with all the snow forecast.

Hey Chad: I'll bet the guys in the little cars will be the ones laughing when you go to fill up the gas tank.

Richard: Don't gloat too much. When summer arrives, who will be laughing. Even if a dry heat, 110-115 is still real hot.

Southern California coastal is the play to be...like where I am. Reading articles like this is the cure for any thoughts of coming back to Akron.

Joseph: After being stationed in French Morocco, where it was 132 in the Western Sahara, 115 is a piece of cake! Besides... everything here is air conditioned. And the best part of it all is that we don't have to shovel sunshine or throw tons of salt on it!

RICHARD - I'll cook on the grill no matter what the weather does.
