TOLEDO: Ohio wildlife investigators say two convicted poachers picked the wrong deer to kill.
Wildlife photographers near Toledo first noticed the deer nicknamed ''Big Boy'' had been missing from a suburban park last fall.
Then they saw photos on the Internet of 20-year-old Justin Angles of Fostoria posing with the 15-point buck and called authorities.
Angles even posted a picture of himself with the deer on the state Division of Wildlife Web site, claiming he had harvested the deer in Wood County with a long bow.
Angles and 20-year-old Daniel Mahoney of Green both pleaded no contest to charges of taking a deer by illegal means and illegal possession of deer parts.
The two have been ordered to pay $13,000 for illegally taking the from a park.

A**holes!!!
$13,000 seems a bit excessive.
Harmon,
Why? What would seem fair for hunting in a restricted area? And for being stupid enough to publish pictures of your illegal kill on the internet.
harmon
Bet the buck would beg to differ
Did they do the community a favor...? I mean, if this Big Boy jumped out in front of my car late one night, causing me to swerve off the road...who knows what would have happened...13k too much...!
$13K for shooting a deer?! WAT?
Should've stuck to roadkill.
My yard is a migration path for a bunch of deer. But it's in the city limit and this no hunting. Wish I could have someone set up traps, they could have as many as they wanted!
SOME DEER HUNTERS JUST CAN'T PLAY FAIR. I'M SURE THIS WAS A EASY KILL FOR THESE LOOSERS. THOSE METROPARK DEER ARE SO USED TO PEOPLE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARANOID ATTITUDES AS MUCH AS THOSE PURSUED YEARLY. BUT TO POST A ILLEAGAL KILL ON THE WEB. THEY JUST WANTED BRAGGING RIGHTS , FOR WHAT LIKE SHOOTING FISH IN A BARREL. I'M GLAD THEY GOT WHAT WAS COMMING FROM THEM. AND ANY OTHER POACHERS OUT THEIR.SHOULD OF BEEN 30,000.00 . I'LL BET THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THESE GUYS HAVE DONE THIS.
So, if you work for the parks dept. they PAY you to kill the deer and if you DON'T-you have to pay $13,000. Okat, I get it. This is just another way fro the govt. to get some cash!! Fine them, i geuss, but that is way too much money!
My other response: was OH DEER!!!!!
i wonder if they at least kept the kill for food? and not just a trophy?
deer jerky is good!
$13,000 fine?seems way out of proportion.
THats a good buck Im just curious how they got 188" out of it (read the comments of two toledo hunters a little earlier this month) because it looks possibly a 150 to me. Non the less to you FINE HATERS 13k is not even close to what true hunters for deer of that size spend. There have to be TRUE HUNTERS out here that agree that 13k is a very cheap price to pay for a deer of that size. For the fine haters think of this, a man/woman works hard has family, TAXES, bills...spends alot of money and heres a slight rundown (bow/gun no less than 1500.00 for average, 300.00 on the light side for camo clothes that cannot be used for anything else, and there are many other things [just in my pack] that add up to ATLEAST 1000.00 at anytime. Then bring in a land/lease payment feed/seeds, time, and IT GOES ON AND ON.) Some may think this is rediculous IMO KEEP IT UP ODNR AND COURT SYSTEM, just put it back into the outdoorsman/woman pockets.
We need this hunter in Summit County then we would not have to pay people to kill deer. He would do it for free.
$1300 is to high a fine when we are trying to thin the heard. Another dysfunctional part of our government.
thats a trophy buck...not just some little run of the mill buck. they got what they deserved and they shouldn't be allowed to hunt this coming fall.
Glad the poachers were caught & had to pay $13K for their ILLEGAL kill. Too bad they can't serve 10 years in jail (minimum), for breaking the law as well.
put deer hunters in jail and release the armed robbers
@hand of god-good post.who is more of a threat?it' all about money.
oh my my so what???
