JONESBORO, GA.: A Georgia man is sentenced to 100 years in prison for poisoning his children to extort money from Campbell's Soup Co.
William Cunningham was sentenced Thursday after a jury found him guilty on seven counts of aggravated assault for forcing the children in 2006 to eat soup laced with prescription drugs and lighter fluid.
His 3-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter were hospitalized twice. A family member said the youngsters may suffer lifelong respiratory problems from lung damage caused by the lighter fluid.
Cunningham's wife has since divorced him.
Cunningham pleaded guilty in 2007 to a federal charge of making false claims against Campbell's Soup by threatening to sue them over the contaminated soup.

What can be learned from this tragic, ignorant, greed? This man may have destroyed the most precious beings or disabled them for life. I suggest his sentence adds that he can only eat Campbell's soup for the duration of his incarceration.
So close to Father's Day.
Lighter fluid in soup? Just take this animal behind the woodshed and put one behind his ear, it that simple.
God bless those poor children. How sick and greedy do you have to be to even think do that and to your own kids. I would have poisoned him with soup as now the tax payers will feed him for life.
May I suggest a different use of lighter fluid on the father...
I'm with you truth patrol.
The prison should feed him some of that lighter fluid soup for lunch and see how he likes it!
@urteemstinxx agree 110% need some help?
Urteemstinxx / Big Mike - ONE BEHIND THE EAR IS WAY TOO LENIENT - ONE SHOULD EMBRACE THE MOMENT - OR - IN FACT - THE MONTH - AND DO IT CORRECTLY
I like Kristins idea just stick him in a hol ion the ground somewhere and feed him poison and lighter-fluid laced soup until he Expires.
pleading guilty in 2007 and is just getting sentenced. At least the wife divorced him!!!
Wildflower - Campbell's soup for lunch is way to nice - now the lighter fluid and prescription drugs on the other hand......
100 years? make him suck down lighter fluid until he dies...
