Driver takes empty Illinois school bus on police chase

By Associated Press

GLENWOOD, ILL.: Authorities say a person driving a school bus with no children on board led police on a chase, ramming cars before stopping in the yard of a house in a Chicago suburb.

Glenwood Mayor Kerry Durkin says details are sketchy but he's been told it was the driver of the bus who was supposed to pick up children who led police on the chase this morning.

Durkin says the chase originated in a neighboring community and the bus rammed several cars. He says he doesn't have any details about possible injuries.

The bus company, First Student Transportation, did not immediately respond to a request for more information, saying facts were still being gathered.
