LUCASVILLE: Ohio has executed a man who locked a woman in the trunk of her car and burned her alive.
Daniel Wilson, 39, was pronounced dead at 10:33 a.m. today at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.
Wilson was sentenced to death for the 1991 slaying of Carol Lutz, 24, an acquaintance he had spent several hours drinking with at a bar near Cleveland.
Wilson's attorneys had sought to avoid his execution, telling the Ohio Parole Board he was beaten as a child by an alcoholic father who would handcuff him to a chair. He was denied clemency Monday, and the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his final appeals Tuesday.
Wilson is the first inmate executed in Ohio since Nov. 19.
Ohio has put 29 men to death since it reinstated the death penalty in 1999.

I was wondering when ohio.com was going to post this story...cleveland news posted at 7 this morning about this story.....I pray for Ms Carol's family.
cleveland posted that it was going to happen today...not that it had happened at 7
almost 20 years of supporting this monster with healthcare, room and board?
you gotta be kidding... whos next in line?
One less to worry about
Yes, I was thinking how many more sunsets he enjoyed than his victim. Finally justice for her family.
Burn in Hell forever Danny!
We all had it tough one way or another-that excuse isn't working anymore.....................
Next!
He should have died the same way his victim did.
What took so long?
Yeah, we need to execute more people for more things and faster, like as soon as they are found guilty, so they can't complain or appeal. That will free up their cells for more scumbags. Too many criminals walking around out here because the prisons are overcrowded.
I feel ur comments...but 2 lives have now been lost..i know we like to think one had greater value than the other but a life is a life...@ JW we as a city, state nation and so on support (pay for) all types of unnessasry things for long periods of time that does not EVER change and you know what else we NEVER see that money in our own pocketz anyway....he would have got what he desevred anyway just not in the time frame we would have otherwise allocated for him...but remember it iz not us who gives time (out) in the first place...we are all on borrowed time.
Greatest gifts, what is your view on abortion?
too bad he couldn't suffer like his victim did. he got the easy road.
@morella: We have a legal process that includes appeal. There have been many instances that convictions have been overturned by incorrect or new evidence. Some have had to languish in jail unjustly for years. Just think how big a mistake it would be if we executed them prematurely!
He'll burn in Hell; 'nuff said.
1991 TO 2009 TO LONG.With an open and close case like this one .With in 3yrs max.He should have been done away with,Not 18YRS.
Justice served...
Now the Cooey stench is cleared from the chamber. NEXT, step right up.
another one bites the dust....... NEXT.
hope it hurt,alot
I wonder what the tally is for 18years room and board at Lucasville?
I have stated repeatedly on here that it is more expensive to taxpayers to house an inmate on death row for 20 years than it is to house and feed them for life. This includes the appeals process.
What took them SO LONG.
To Suz. They say iy costs $45.00 a day to house a convict. 45 x 365 comes out to $16,425.00 a year. This does not include medical or money spent on appeals. Don't forget he was on death row for about 18 years so the grand total is $295,650.00. Yeah, that's over a quarter of a million dollars in tax payers money.
Thanks Love Stinks! WOW that is such a total waste of money! Good Riddance Wilson, hell wont be so kind and accommodating to you.
Same thing happened to me when I was a kid. I decided to get a job instead.
Those losers protesting the execution disgust me.
who are you guys to jump to conclusions that he is burning in hell? Do you not know that we have a forgiving God?
I notice the protest groups are getting smaller! Thank god! An eye for an eye! The death penalty is the only deterrent. And it's too bad that other states turned into whiney liberals and abolished the death penalty.
I agree JWWRIGHT.
It's about flippin time !!!!
I bet it's hot down there !
