Hunter Yurachek was named interim director of athletics at the University of Akron today.
Yurachek, 40, will serve in that role until a permanent director is named.
Athletic Director Mack Rhoades will be leaving in mid-July to take the same position at the University of Houston.
Yurachek has been the UA executive senior associate athletic director since May 29, 2006.

I hope a national search to fill this position is going on right now. Sorry, Yurachek, but this is the most appealing athletic directors job in the country right now and UA would be stupid not to search for the absolute best candidate.
