WEST JEFFERSON: A fireworks display had to wait until the end of the holiday weekend in one central Ohio community because of an accident involving a natural gas meter.
Authorities say a motorist backed into a meter on Saturday near the site where West Jefferson's light show was set to go off hours later.
The fireworks were put on hold until organizers were sure the broken meter wasn't leaking any gas. Ron Garver, one of the organizers, says if there had been a leak the display could have become a disaster scene.
After a one-day delay, the fireworks were held Sunday night in the town 15 miles southwest of Columbus and still drew a crowd.
