LUCASVILLE: A former truck driver who went on a multistate killing spree has been executed in Ohio for the murder of a Cincinnati-area man who gave him a ride in 1991.
Forty-five-year-old John Fautenberry of Oregon was pronounced dead at 10:37 a.m. today at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.
Fautenberry was sentenced to death for the slaying of Joseph Daron Jr., who picked him up while he was hitchhiking on Feb. 17, 1991.
Fautenberry also confessed to killing a four people in three other states Alaska, Oregon and New Jersey during a five-month period in late 1990 and early 1991.
Fautenberry is the first inmate executed in Ohio since June 3.

"Fautenberry is the first inmate executed in Ohio since June 3."
Does the writer get paid by the word?
Yeah, I found that sentence a little odd.
Should have happened long before now!
a liberal reporter, stating a liberal bias - that is why the sentence is in there. He wanted it to sound like an obsessive amount of executions, when in fact it isn't enough.
They whom take Human lives for the mere pleasure and joy to ones self shall surely pay for it with their own. "Thy Brother's blood cries up from the Earth" comes to this ones memory for one who hastened the end of another individual, and he paid dearly as well.
That statement at the end of the article is something I recall reading before, probably back in early June when the last execution occurred.
I don't think it is anything more than a statement of fact. But then I don't see a conspiracy around every corner.
That statement does seem out of place since June 3 and I'm assuming 2009 was only 41 days ago.
That's like me saying I haven't posted to an Ohio.com article since July 12, 2009; a big "Whup"!
Jimbo. Steve and weB1 are right. If the writer wanted us to think it was excessive he would have done the math and said the last execution was only 6 weeks ago.
Frankenberry, rot in hades.
