INDEPENDENCE: The Cavaliers have reportedly signed free-agent power forward Leon Powe to a two-year contract.
According to ESPN.com, Powe, formerly of the Boston Celtics, signed Tuesday night.
The two-year contract is worth $1.77 million, the NBA minimum for a third-year player. The Cavs have a team option for the second year, according to a league source.
Powe had expressed a great desire to play for the Cavs despite his former team showing a renewed interest late in the negotiations, a source said.
For that reason, there appears to be no downside to the deal. Powe, 26, is recovering from an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.
Reports say that he could be ready to play as soon as February — just in time for a playoff run.
More important, he's a player who shows up in playoff games — his most notable postseason performance being a 21-point effort against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals in 2008. Powe averaged 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds during the 2008-09 regular season.

I find it odd that Big Ben signed with Detroit. It seemed like when he played with the Cavs that his "aggression" was missing.
Did he just not like playing with the Cavs, or is Detroit mistaken?

I disagree that Ben lacked aggression. I think what you saw was a guy a few years older who also had an assortment of injuries. When healthy he was aggressive as ever but he was not the same player you saw in Detroit. If you think he will magically become the Big Ben of old just because he puts on a Piston uni this yea, you are mistaken.

Fabulous pick up! Powe has the heart of a champion and understands his role. By coming back in February it will be the equivalent of adding a big man at the trade deadline. And he is younger, hungrier, and much tougher than Joe Smith. This has been a great off season for the Cavs. Can't wait for the season to start!

Yea they got btter. A center you cant play at the end of the game because of free throws. Another injured athelte who"s coming to a Cleveland team. Lets not forget about the awesome Parker, and Moon signing. Hopefully Im wrong but dont see the improvement.
