Tom Wistrcill, a senior associate athletic director at the University of Minnesota, has been named director of athletics at the University of Akron, sources said today.
He has worked at the university since since May 15, 2006. Before that he worked at the University of Wisconsin, as general manger of Badger Sports Properties since 2003.
He is a native of LaCrosse, Wis., and has a bachelor's degree from S. Mary's University in Winona, Minn., where he played basketball for four years.
He also has a master's degree from the University of St. Thomas.
Wistrcill will be introduced at a news conference either Tuesday or Wednesday.
