Browns' Edwards involved in alleged fight with LeBron acquaintance

By Associated Press

BEREA: LeBron James called Browns receiver Braylon Edwards "childish" for allegedly punching James' friend early Monday morning outside of a Cleveland night club.

James said Edwards punched Edward Givens, a friend of James' and a promoter with a Cleveland marketing firm who was working outside the club around 2:30 a.m. EDT.

"I've never crossed paths with Braylon before, but it seems like there's a little jealousy going on with Braylon and me and my friends. I have no idea why," James said. "I've never said anything to Braylon at all. But for him to do that is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously. It's like hitting one of my kids. It doesn't make sense."

James says he was home when the fight occurred, but got a call from Givens telling him about it at 7 a.m. Monday.

Browns coach Eric Mangini said he has spoken with Braylon Edwards about the alleged fight.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that a 28-year-old man accused Edwards of punching him in the face following an argument. The man said Edwards hit him with a closed fist. He said he suffered a black eye and cut and was treated at a hospital.

Mangini said he was aware of the incident. He added his players' personal conduct is important and that he was still gathering information on the incident.

Edwards did not catch a pass in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Cincinnati. It was the first time in 62 career games Edwards did not have at least one reception.

Ohio.com left the best part of the story out. According to Cleveland.com. Braylon has an alleged beef with Lebron and his people. During this skirmish Braylon sucker punched one of Lebron's promoters. Braylon doesn't like playing second fiddle, whether it's to Massoqoui or Lebron. What a loser!

I don't believe this. If Braylon Edwards would have thrown a punch, he would not have connected. He would have missed completely.

DS,

In Braylon's defense, he's shown some maturity as far DUI goes. The night Stallworth killed that guy, Braylon simply got a room. I never understood why guys that make millions per year would drive anywhere. Hire a driver or pay for a cab.

Jason

I would agree that it is a few that make it look bad on everyone else.

But professional sports has a bad off field track record of behavior

And as one other pointed out it is an Alleged incident

A year ago Rolling Stones ran a story about Braylon in California on some sets talking up his future acting career and he mentions in so many words he wants to be as big as Lebron in Cleveland.

I still think they shoulld have gotten rid of Braylon instead of K2.

Braylon only wishes he had 1/4 the class as LBJ. He should be kicked out of professional sports. He doesn't deserve to be called a sportsman!

Everyone who goes to the games need to start holding up "Bench Braylon" signs. The team is better off with him on the bench than with him on the field.
