Osnaburg Township man killed in crash

By Beacon Journal staff

An Osnaburg Township man died within a mile of his home when he lost control of his minivan and struck two directional arrow signs and three trees.

Keith L. Utt, 41, was traveling north on state Route 44, near East Canton when his 2000 Ford Windstar minivan crashed, went over an embankment and came to rest in a shallow creek bed about 100 yards from the roadway.

The accident, believed to have occurred Sunday night, was not discovered until about 2 p.m. Monday, said Stark County Coroner's Office investigator Rick Walters. The car was not visible from the roadway, but neighbors reported hearing a crash sound between 9 and 11 p.m. Sunday, he said.

Utt was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner's investigator.

An autopsy is scheduled for today, Walters said.
