BETHEL, Ohio: Authorities say they found at least three dead horses and removed six live horses along with a pony and donkey from a farm in southwest Ohio.
Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg said animal control officials obtained a search warrant after repeated reports by witnesses about animals that appeared to have been neglected.
Authorities think the animals recovered Monday had been abandoned. There was no one at the farm, and a recording Tuesday stated that the telephone number listed had been disconnected.
Authorities say they are still investigating, and no charges have been filed. They were searching the farm for possible other animal remains.

How very sad.
"They were searching the farm for possible other animal remains."
Why?
People can barely feed themselves these days much less their animals.
Was Heather Nagel anywhere near these animals?
So very very sad. Why do all the liberals berate the people who abuse dogs and rabbits, but ignore the stories about people abusing horses? Seems like they are just responding to their emotions instead of logic. Abusing an animal is the same, no matter what the animal. I think this is equal or even worse than the robber throwing the dog, or the girl drowning the rabbit.
who owns the farm, who rented it , last person there should have to face charges, even if poor there are ways to get help not just abandon the animals , better to turn them free let them out to feed in the pastures , grass is free , these people need jail time
You wouldnt think it would be that tough of detective work to figure out who last resided there. Who knows, maybe there's a human body somewhere on the premises that used to care for these animals.
Im sure Ill be attacked for this, but unwanted livestock that you cant given away should be humanely and painlessly as possible dispatched and buried rather than left to starve.
