The Fairlawn branch of the Ohio BMV on West Market Street has been temporarily shut down by the state following an investigation concerning its practices.
Deputy Registrar Susan Suso, who held a franchise for the Fairlawn BMV, was terminated by the Ohio Department of Public Safety last week after investigators determined documents containing customers' personal data, including social security numbers, had been disposed of in an unsecured dumpster instead of shredded.
Suso has filed legal papers seeking an injunction to stay the department's decision.
There are eight other BMV locations in Summit County: 688 Wolf Ledges Parkway, 1030 E. Tallmadge Avenue, 2420 Wedgewood Drive, and 2383 S. Main St. in Akron; 107 5th St. SE, Barberton; 2915 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls; 9699 Valley View Road, Macedonia; and, 3029 Graham Road in Stow.
