Akron: A public forum, Reducing Gun Violence, will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Main Library Auditorium of the Akron-Summit Public Library on South Main Street in downtown Akron.
The program is sponsored by the Akron Area Association of Churches, the Akron Area Interfaith Council, the American Friends Service Committee, the Catholic Commission, the Coalition for a Safe Community, and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron.
The main speaker is Toby Hoover, executive director of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence.
Participants in a panel discussion are: Summit County Juvenile Court Judge Linda Teodosio; Akron police officer Don Schismenos, head of the gang unit; Judy Joyce, executive director of the Greenleaf Family Center; state Sen. Tom Sawyer, D-Akron; and University of Akron communication professor N.J. Brown.
