An Akron man is accused of firing shots and then leading police on a brief car chase early Monday morning.
Dayjon Greer, 21, was pulled from beneath a parked car on Castle Boulevard about 1 a.m. and arrested on multiple charges including fleeing police, discharging a firearm, aggravated menacing and tampering with evidence.
Police said they first received calls of shots being fired near Susan Court where Greer’s former girlfriend lives. Responding officers said they saw Greer driving a white Hyundai and tried to pull him over.
Instead, Greer drove away and led officers on a chase that peaked at 50 mph. The chase took police on Idlewood, North Hawkins and Sheldon avenues and West Exchange Street.
Toward the end, police said Greer leaped from the moving car on Melbourne Avenue and ran toward a residence in the 200 block of Castle Boulevard. Police said Greer was found hiding under a car and had to be forced out from beneath the vehicle.
Police said Greer tossed a bag of marijuana from his car during the chase. They also found a bottle of vodka inside the car, officers said.
