STOW: A Hudson woman drove her car into the front lobby of the U.S. Post Office at 3900 Darrow Road at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, injuring one woman in the post office and the driver.
The 50-year-old driver of a 2009 Toyota Camry was transported to Akron General Medical Center and a 51-year-old woman who was struck by the car was taken to Akron City Hospital, police said.
Another man who pulled his wife out of the path of the car inside the post office and then rolled over the front of the car was not taken to the hospital, postal service spokesman David Van Allen said. He also said a 15-year-old who was in the car that drove into the building was not injured.
The names and conditions of both women were not available.
Authorities provided no explanation for the accident, saying that it remains under investigation.
The post office will be open Monday, Van Allen said.
The Stow post office was named in honor of Marine Cpl. Joseph A. Tomci on June 3, 2010.
Tomci, 21, a 2003 Stow-Munroe Falls High School graduate, was killed Aug. 2, 2006, in a roadside bombing in Iraq.
