The Akron area and much of Ohio will feel the winds and rain from Hurricane Sandy.
A high wind warning will be in effect from noon today until 4 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported.
The weather service reports 30- to 40-mph winds will become northwesterly with gusts up to 70 mph during the warning period.
The high winds could knock down power lines and trees, bring roof and structural damage to buildings and cause loose objects to be blown into the air, the weather service said.
The weather service has forecast 100 percent chance of rain for Monday and Tuesday with a 90 percent chance of rain Wednesday and a 60 percent chance of rain Thursday.
Since Saturday morning, 1.65 inches of rain have fallen as measured at the weather service office at the Akron-Canton Airport. The weather service said another 3 inches of rain could come down through Wednesday night.
