Information about the Bert A. Polsky Award

The Polsky Award was established in 1969 to honor Bert A. Polsky, the former chairman of Polsky’s Department Store.

Polsky was the a founding trustee of the Akron Community Foundation.

In 1990, the Akron Community Foundation took over administering the Polsky Award from the Akron Regional Development Board.

The Akron Community Foundation has assets of more than $150 million and has made $108 million in donations since its founding in 1955.
