NORTH CANTON: A suspect described as a teenage boy stabbed a 39-year-old man while the victim was walking on Allison Place Northwest Saturday afternoon, police said.
The victim reported that he was walking at about 1:30 p.m. when a white boy, described as about 13 years old, stabbed him in the stomach.
The suspect has brown curly hair and was wearing a black hoodie, police said. The suspect, police said, fled westbound on a red bicycle after the stabbing.
The victim was transported to an area hospital by the North Canton Fire Department, but no other information was available.
Sgt. Doug Cardwell said the victim walked to his apartment and called 911 after he was stabbed.
The victim said the suspect approached him from behind and said, “Do I know you or do you know me?” to the victim.
The victim said he told the juvenile he did not and then the suspect stabbed him in the stomach, causing a 1-inch wide shallow wound, police said.
Cardwell said he did not believe the injuries were life-threatening. The victim believes he was stabbed with a knife, but didn’t see the weapon used.
The victim was being interviewed at Aultman Hospital late Saturday afternoon by North Canton detectives.
Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call North Canton police and ask for Detective John Hemric at 330-499-5911.
