Construction starts on $122 million Ohio headquarters

By Amanda Lee Myers
Associated Press

CINCINNATI: Construction has begun on a consumer-data company’s new $122 million headquarters in the heart of downtown Cincinnati.

The new headquarters of dunhumbyUSA is being touted for creating more jobs and deepening the area’s ongoing transformation.

DunhumbyUSA analyzes consumer habits for companies like Macy’s and PepsiCo and is a joint venture of Cincinnati-based Kroger and London-based dunhumby.

The firm began in 2003 with three employees, now has more than 650 and plans to reach 1,100 workers by 2018.

Both Cincinnati and state officials fought to retain the fast-growing company, awarding it a combined $25 million in tax credits and incentives.

Those efforts came despite arguments from some who said that in tough financial times, cities should tighten their belts.

The project is expected to finish in just under a year.
