A Georgia Avenue man, 28, was charged with burglary. Police said the man’s blood was recovered and matched from a door frame of a Georgia Avenue home that was burglarized.
A Chalker Street woman, 52, was charged with receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card. Police said the woman was in possession of a stolen credit card. She purchased a computer in the amount of $747.29 and then food in the amount of $454. Both purchases were caught on video.
A South Rhodes Avenue man, 32, was charged with breaking and entering, vandalism and obstructing official business.
An Elbon Avenue woman, 24, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the woman was stopped on Minson Way for driving a stolen vehicle.
A North Howard Street man, 35, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing weapons illegally, possessing a defaced firearm and obstructing official business. Police said officers responded to a shots fired call and observed the man running from the area. He was found attempting to hide next to a Carlysle Street residence with the gun.
A Sylvan Avenue man, 18, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the man was stopped for speeding on Triplett Boulevard. The vehicle was found to be stolen.
A Kipling Street man, 19, was charged with aggravated robbery and misrepresentation of ID. Police said the man robbed a person at gunpoint. He was stopped in a vehicle by officers and found with the person’s property.
A Florida Avenue man, 39, was charged with felonious assault. Police said the man and two other men were in an altercation with another man and he stabbed him in the left chest.
A Payne Avenue man, 24, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the man was in possession of stolen jewelry and sold the jewelry to Worldwide Gold, Silver & Diamond Trading Co. on Merriman Road.
An Alberta Street man, 21, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possessing weapons illegally. Police said the man was stopped on Hillwood Drive for window tint. Police said the man was the front seat passenger and found to have two warrants and found to be in possession of a revolver.
A 30-year-old man, was charged with possessing weapons illegally, possessing a firearm in liquor premise, carrying a concealed weapon and drug abuse. Police said officers were called to Brubaker’s Pub on South Main Street for a male inside with a gun. The man was found at the bar and was found to be in possession of a gun and drugs.
A Talbot Avenue man, 45, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon illegally, possessing a weapon while intoxicated, obstructing official business and tampering with evidence. When officers approached him, he ran from them and threw the gun into a house.
A Kling Street man, 21 was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the man was arrested after a hit-skip investigation found that he was driving a stolen vehicle and subsequently wrecked it and fled the scene.
A Huguelet Avenue man, 25, was charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools. Police said officers were called to a Seminola Avenue house. When they arrived, the man ran out the back of the house. He was apprehended and was found to be in possession of metal snips and a pipe cutter. The Seminola Avenue home had several feet of copper pipe laying on the floor next to the window.
An Orlando Avenue man, 32, was charged with possessing weapons illegally, carrying a concealed weapon, drug abuse, improper handling of firearm in a motor vehicle, failure to comply, obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said officers were called to the Escape Club for a man with a gun. The man was driving out of the parking lot and was stopped at Tallmadge Avenue and Creighton Avenue. He refused to follow officers’ orders and was physically removed from the vehicle. He was found to be in possession of a loaded gun and had drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
A friend of a West Tuscarawas Avenue man told police Jan. 7 that he went to the victim’s home and found him in need of medical attention. Police said the victim said he bought a couch from a relative, and when it was delivered the relative assaulted him and took $600.
An electronic gaming system and five video games, total value $640, were reported stolen Jan. 10 from a Sylvester Street residence.
A Van Street resident told police Jan. 9 that she discovered a ring valued at $839 had been taken from her home.
A woman said Jan. 8 that she was at a local hospital when she went to the restroom and removed an $800 engagement ring to wash her hands. The ring was gone when she went looking for it in the restroom about 30 minutes later.
An 82-year-old woman reported Jan. 10 that she received a call from someone asking for information to verify her Medicare account. The caller had the woman’s bank account number. After answering questions and being given another number to call for follow-up, she became suspicious and called Medicare. She was advised that the call may have been a scam to steal her identity.
Two suspects tried to purchase $2,000 worth of gift cards from OfficeMax, 37 Cleveland-Massillon Road, Jan. 12, using a phony identification and credit card. They left with the fake cards when the transaction was denied.
A Fairlawn man, 58, told police Jan. 15 that someone had broken into his shop while he was away. He said he returned to his business to find the side door broken and his industrial tools were stolen.
A Wyndham Way man, 27, told police three guns were stolen from his home.
A Canton woman, 30, reported a confrontation at the group home for the mentally ill that she works at. She told police one resident shoved another one down the stairs. She didn’t feel that the action was criminal so no charges were made.
A Glenhaven Avenue woman, 40, told police her son, 19, assaulted her Jan. 13. He also knocked over some plants and left the residence.
The president of the Fairlawn City Women’s Club called police reporting a threatening phone call she received Jan. 11. She said the caller was a man and was asking to join the club. After she told him it was a women’s club, he became angry and said he really wanted to join and that he had a gun. Copley police had an officer at the club’s next meeting.
A Peach Drive man, 30, was jailed for domestic violence and menacing and warrants for theft and criminal trespass Jan. 4 after he allegedly argued with a female and destroyed household items, causing the woman to fear for her safety.
A Flowerdale Drive man, 39, was arrested at home Jan. 3 on a domestic violence warrant.
Authorities were notified Jan. 7 that someone used a Winimac Avenue resident’s personal information at hospitals to obtain treatment, creating a $35,000 bill.
An 18-year-old man reported he was assaulted Jan. 13 by a person he knows at a Howe Avenue restaurant.
A 43-year-old Ravenna man reported Jan. 15 that while visiting an East Hunters Lake Drive home, he was assaulted by another man.
A home in the 1400 block of Myrtle Avenue was broken into Jan. 13. Two video game system and games, valued at a total of $1,900, were taken.
An Americana Drive woman reported Jan. 15 someone broke into her apartment and took prescription drugs.

A McShane Avenue couple reported Jan. 12 someone stole 75 prescription pills from their home.
A Curtis Avenue woman reported Jan. 15 someone used her personal information to access her debit card. Transactions and fees totaling $324 were charged to her account.
A Wyandotte Avenue man reported Jan. 10 someone used his credit card to make unauthorized purchases totaling $745 at a local store.
A Streetsboro woman, 30, was arrested on theft charges Jan. 14. She allegedly stole $213.80 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Summit Mall. She tried to conceal the items in her purse but was apprehended by store security. She has been banned from Macy’s for three years.
Police received a call Jan. 14 of a fight at a group home. The antagonist was a 56-year-old who allegedly threatened his roommate with a picture frame. He was transported to St. Thomas Hospital for evaluation.
A Barberton woman told authorities she and her boyfriend were at an Opal Drive location Jan. 8 when the Cleveland man, 22, threw her against a wall and threatened to kill her. He was jailed for felony domestic violence.
Jewelry and several electronic items, total value $8,400 were reported stolen Jan. 8 during a burglary at a Kingston Road home.
A TV, watch and necklace, total value $1,200, were reported stolen Jan. 7 from a Moore Road home.
Police are investigating an assault reported to have happened inside an Eastham Way home Jan. 11.
Police investigating a report of a suspicious man sitting on a Bard Drive resident’s porch approached the man and asked what he was doing. The man said he was looking for a friend. An officer told the man to stop knocking on doors since he didn’t know in which home his friend lives.
A Simon Road woman reported Jan. 8 someone took a package from her front porch.
A Renninger Road youth, 15, was booked into the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on Jan. 7 after he allegedly threatened to kill his father with a baseball bat.
A 42-year-old Doylestown woman was arrested Jan. 16 on charges of theft from a disabled person, forgery, identity theft and theft. She is accused of stealing purses from two women in October.
A homeless man, 61, was charged with felony domestic violence and aggravated menacing after telling police Jan. 6 he had abused his wife on several occasions. Police were told the victim was at a local hospital with facial and hand injuries and possible head injuries.
A clerk at the Office Motel on Massillon Road told police Jan. 7 that a man asked her if a female he named was there and then said he had a gun and would hurt the clerk if she didn’t give him all the money. He fled with $95.
A Lessig Road female, who told police she worked at a Canton night spot, said her home was entered and 150 bathing suits, three purses and other items, total value $5,850, were stolen from her basement.
A Lessig Road female told police Jan. 4 that three diamond rings, total value $1,400, were stolen after she fell asleep while watching a movie with three acquaintances at her home.
A 27-year-old Hudson man was arrested Jan. 11 on charges of felonious assault and domestic violence. The charges are from a Nov. 18 incident.
A 22-year-old man was charged Jan. 16 with domestic violence. He is accused of hitting a 7-year-old boy with a plastic rod between Nov. 19 and 21. The child was treated at Akron Children’s Hospital for unspecified injuries.
A 27-year-old Hudson man was arrested Jan. 11 on a charge of violating a protection order.
A 25-year-old Akron man was charged Jan. 16 with trafficking marijuana, possession of drugs, and two counts of driving under suspension. During a traffic stop, police reported finding 117 grams of marijuana and $861 in cash that belonged to the suspect.
Breaking and entering
Copper pipe was stolen during the break-in of a vacant home in the 3700 block of Sanford Avenue Jan. 7.
A vacant home in the 3500 block of Kent Road was broken into sometime after Nov. 15. Copper pipe was taken.
Someone broke into a home in the 4100 block of Pardee Road on Jan. 16. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Theft by deception
An employee of Giant Eagle, 4300 Kent Road, reported Jan. 14 she received a call from a man who said he was with Western Union. She said the man tricked her into sending him more than $1,400.
Police are investigating the burglary of a home in the 600 block of Sunset View Boulevard Jan. 18. A neighbor heard an alarm and saw a red Misubishi leaving the residence.
Misuses of credit cards
An Eastwood Avenue woman reported Jan. 13 someone used her debit card account to rack up $600 in unauthorized charges.
A man reported Jan. 14 after losing his wallet at Taco Bell, someone used the debit card inside to make unauthorized purchases from Akron businesses.
Two suspects got away with nearly $1,800 in merchandise from Acme Fresh Market, 600 South Ave., Jan. 13. The suspects were approached by Acme security as they wheeled a full shopping cart out of the store. One of the suspects hit a security officer with the cart, then jumped into a waiting car. An off-duty Tallmadge police officer who came to the security officer’s aid was nearly struck by the fleeing vehicle.
A Red Box video machine, located at 600 South Ave., was damaged Jan. 12, when someone punched the touch screen, causing $700 in damages.
A 23-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was charged Jan. 16 with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana. Police stopped his vehicle on Interstate 76 at High Street.
Misuse of credit card
A North Lyman Street man reported Jan. 16 someone charged about $3,000 to his debit card over three days.
An Elm Street Northwest man, 35, was jailed for domestic violence and felony possession of drugs Jan. 7 after he was arrested in a traffic stop at the intersection of state Route 21 and Marshallville Road.
Police tasered a Ledgewood Avenue Northwest man, 29, after he barricaded himself in his apartment Jan. 3 following a 911 call of a rape in progress, which police said proved to be false.
A sales person at Pacific Sun in the Westfield Belden Village Mall told police Jan. 9 his $599 cell phone was stolen from the counter when three males asked him to get a pair of shoes from the stock room. When he returned, the three were gone along with the phone.
Three cell phones and a note pad, total value $2,500, were reported stolen Jan. 8 from the Sprint store on Strip Avenue Northwest.
Best Buy personnel on Strip Avenue Northwest said Jan. 6 that two women were seen concealing two tablet computers, total value $500, on their persons and leaving the store without paying.
A Canton man told police his vehicle was in the parking lot of the Diamond Royale gentlemen’s club on Munson Street Northwest on Jan. 5 when someone took eight $100 bills hidden in his flashlight beside the driver’s seat.
Two women at the 3 Brothers Corner Restaurant on Fulton Drive Northwest told police Jan. 4 that cash totaling $634 was removed from their purses while they were working.
Police received a report Jan. 3 from J.B. Robinson Jewelers in the Westfield Belden Village Mall that on Dec. 27 someone with access to the store safe took a $5,300 diamond engagement ring and replaced it with one of lesser value.
A charge of domestic violence was lodged against a Hillcrest Avenue Northwest man, 35, on Jan. 8. Police said he was accused of pulling his wife’s arm behind her back, causing injury to her arm and shoulder.
Disruption of public services
Police were still trying to determine Jan. 10 who turned off the power switch to the sewer pump at the city’s lift station in the 600 block of Holl Road Northeast a week earlier, causing sewer backups in several homes.
A $1,600 laptop computer was reported stolen from a Willaman Avenue Northwest man’s pickup Dec. 27.
Accused of punching his wife in the back, a 31st Street Northeast man, 38, was jailed for domestic violence Jan. 9.
A 15th Street Northwest woman, 33, was jailed for felonious assault and resisting arrest after a sheriff’s deputy said the suspect grabbed the deputy and injured his finger during a fight Jan. 6.
A Royal Hill Circle Northeast man, 50, was jailed for domestic violence Jan. 6 for allegedly punching a female and pushing her to the ground several times.
A West Commons Street Northeast male, 33, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 5 for allegedly threatening to kill his mother if she wouldn’t take him to get his drugs.
A Cleveland Avenue Northwest resident said Dec. 31 that someone entered his unlocked car in his driveway and stole an engagement ring and other items, total value $5,881.
A Marshallville man, 54, was arrested Jan. 12 on charges of theft, possessing a controlled substance and possession of a drug abuse instrument after he allegedly took prescription drugs from a residence in the 10600 block of Akron Road in Chippewa Township.
A 30-year-old Wooster man was arrested Jan. 12 on charges of breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, theft and criminal trespass after a neighbor reported that someone kicked in a door to a vacant residence in the 8500 block of West Easton Road in Congress Township.
A Shreve man, 31, was arrested Jan. 1 on a charge of felonious assault after a fight caused serious injuries to a 22-year-old woman at her home in the 7300 block of Miller Street, East Union Township. The woman was transported to Wooster Community Hospital.
Jewelry, $430 and other items, total value $2,200, were reported stolen Jan. 9 from a home in the 10700 block of Yoder Road in Milton Township.
A 1992 Chevrolet worth $2,500 was taken Jan. 6 from a residence in the 12700 block of Hametown Road, Chippewa Township. The car later was found wrecked in a neighbor’s yard.
A fire destroyed a residence Jan. 14 in the 1100 block of North Bever Street.
A laptop computer, a PlayStation game and $2,000 were reported taken Jan. 12 from a home in the 900 block of East Henry Street.
