An Independence Avenue man, 30, was charged with willful flee and obstructing justice after he allegedly led police on a high-speed car chase that ended when he crashed into another vehicle, injuring an occupant.
An Inman Street man, 25, and a Fort Wayne, Ind., man were charged with receiving stolen property during a traffic stop at Inman and East Crosier streets. Police discovered the vehicle was stolen from Indiana. The Indiana man also was charged with misrepresentation.
A Horizon Drive man, 24, was charged with theft, forgery and uttering after he allegedly stole six checks from a home he was hired to clean. Police said he forged and cashed the checks totaling $2,017 at multiple locations in Akron and Springfield Township.
A Wall Street man, 45, was charged with misuse of a credit card and receiving stolen property after he allegedly used a stolen credit card to make nearly $300 in purchases.

Police said the man dropped off the woman to cash a stolen check at a South Arlington Street business and the man fled when he saw a police officer pull in to the parking lot.

Busson Digital Printing on Wooster Road West reported July 11 that it filled a $1,724 order before learning that a credit card was stolen.
An Akron woman, 41, was charged with theft July 17 after she allegedly tried to steal three bottles of perfume from Victoria’s Secret in Summit Mall. The woman tried to conceal the perfume in a brown bag but set off the store’s alarm system. She was banned from the mall for six months.
A Tamarisk Drive man, 34, told police July 14 that vandals poured soup on his porch, stuck pencils in his yard and left behind plastic eggs filled with coins and a golf bag containing a 9 iron.
Currency, coins, stamps and jewelry, total value $19,676, were reported stolen July 13 from a Fowler Avenue home.
A Penguin Avenue woman told deputies that her Social Security check wasn’t directly deposited into her bank account. Deputies found that the check went into an unknown account with GE Capital Bank. Social Security fraud agents are assisting with the investigation.

An employee of a State Road thrift store told police July 13 that someone stole a bank envelope containing $500 from her pocket. The envelope was found empty in a women’s restroom.
Five new refrigerators, total value more than $1,800, were reported stolen July 17 from apartments in a construction site in the 1100 block of Aycliff Lane.
A black 2006 Harley-Davidson was stolen July 16 from outside a garage in the 2600 block of Elmwood Street.
A Linda Lane Road man, 30, was charged with driving under the influence July 16. He claimed to have downed only two beers but failed a sobriety test.
A Fairlawn man, 55, told police that a neighbor’s dog attacked him. He said he was riding his bike when the dog broke free and bit his leg.
A Mogadore man, 41, told police that someone stole a John Deere tractor and trailer, total value $19,500, from a Fairlawn site July 16.
A Bradford Way woman was cited July 11 after her dog attacked a boy, 3, in the 6000 block of Bradford Way, causing serious injury to the boy’s face and lower lip. The boy was treated at Akron Children’s Hospital.
An Arborwood Drive man told police July 12 that someone is using the license plates he threw away several years ago. The man said he’s received three camera-generated tickets from Cleveland and East Cleveland police for driving violations. Police photos show that the plates, which expired in 2007, are now on a Honda Accord. Several tools were reported stolen July 11 from a construction trailer at 2500 Hudson Aurora Road.
Someone left a knife on a couch July 12 in the teen room at the Hudson Library. Officers checked a security camera but could not find who left it.
A Tapper Road man was charged with domestic violence and discharging a firearm July 17 after he allegedly threatened his wife and fired a handgun in their home.

The other case involved a South Main Street woman, 34, who told police an acquaintance grabbed her at her home, groped her and tried to pull down her pants.
A Mogadore Road man, 28, was charged with domestic violence July 10 after he allegedly choked and pushed his girlfriend in her Canfield Road home. She said he broke a wood cabinet door.
A Michaels Drive woman told police July that she received a $1,650 check from an unknown person and deposited it in her account. The bank notified her that the check was forged and someone used her identity to withdraw the same amount from her account.

Misuse of credit card
A Kent woman, 21, reported July 1 that someone used her credit card to make an unauthorized purchase after she lost her wallet outside a Kent Road department store.
An off-road motorcycle was stolen July 15-16 from the 130 block of Mac Drive.
Two handguns were stolen July 14-15 from a home in the 3300 block of Deidrick Road.
A Kent man, 30, of East Main Street, was arrested on a warrant July 12 alleging the manufacture of methamphetamine in Summit County. Police did a computer check on the man’s license plate in a Kmart parking lot. An officer pulled over the man on South Avenue.
An Akron man, 33, of Cole Avenue, was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing official business July 14 after police tried to pull him over at East Market Street and Massillon Road in Akron. The man sped around a building and jumped out of the car, which had been reported stolen in Richfield. Police used a stun gun when he tried to run away. The vehicle’s steering column had been stripped.
A Brittain Circle man, 19, was charged with assault July 14 after he allegedly punched a woman, 20, several times in the face at his home.
A Canton woman, 27, of 50th Street Southwest, was charged with theft and possessing criminal tools after officers pulled over her car on Interstate 76. The woman, who told police she is a recovering heroin addict, allegedly had stuffed her purse with merchandise stolen from Walmart in Brimfield.
Police were investigating a reported rape July 12. No other information was available, including the address where the alleged assault took place.
Detectives were investigating a July 11 report of someone pandering sexual oriented material involving a minor. Police seized a computer and an external hard drive. The report did not say where the computer was seized.
A diamond necklace, a ruby necklace, a gold pendant, a three-stone pendant, a diamond pendant and a pair of earrings, total value $2,530, were stolen July 17 from a home in the 700 block of Humble Road.
About $1,000 worth of gold and silver coins stored in a safe were among items reported stolen July 15 from a home in the 100 block of South Thomas Road. Also missing were an air compressor, jewelry, a 32-inch television and a blue hat.
A black 2005 Honda Accord was reported stolen July 14 from a driveway in the 1000 block of Lawndale Drive. The keys were in an unlocked work van also parked in the driveway.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 26, of Sackett Avenue, was charged with burglary and violating a protection order July 12. The man, a technology support employee at Kent State University, was arrested on a warrant in Lowry Hall.
A Streetsboro man, 43, of Lancelot Drive, was charged with aggravated possession of a dangerous drug and possessing drug abuse instruments July 15 in the 700 block of Longcoy Avenue. A Longcoy man, 54, was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and obstructing official business.
A Clinton Street woman, 47, was charged with domestic violence July 12 after she allegedly struck someone in the head and face several times with a frozen chicken.
Authorities began a rape investigation July 8 after a Norwood Place Northwest woman said she was a victim of unwanted sex.
