Domestic violence/assault
Bob H. Conrad, 31, of Lakemore, was charged Nov. 8 with domestic violence and disorderly conduct. He is accused of striking his wife in the face and refusing to listen to officers.
Ronald A. Robinson, 27, of West Long Street, was charged Nov. 7 with domestic violence. He is accused of pushing his live-in girlfriend into a door, choking her, punching her in the face, pushing her head through a glass pane and hitting her with an electric heater.
Steven M. Nixon, 34, of West Waterloo Road, was charged Nov. 6 with domestic violence, accused of grabbing a woman by the hair, dragging her and hitting her. Police said the woman had a bruised eye and a bloody elbow.
Anthony D. Threw, 39, of North Howard Street, was charged Nov. 5 with felony domestic violence. He is accused of spitting on his wife, hitting her in the abdomen and throwing hot soup at her.
Derrick D. Pollard, 28, of South Arlington Street, was charged Nov. 3 with domestic violence, accused of hitting a woman several times in the face and choking her.
Brian L. Gurganus, 20, Michael J. Hayes, 21, and Joseph T. Woodward, 20, all of Akron, were charged Nov. 3 with disorderly conduct. They are accused of making racial slurs to men outside a Kling Street residence, kicking the door, breaking out a window, and punching and kicking a resident.
Tynnetta Evans, 39, of Crosby Street, was charged Nov. 3 with domestic violence, accused of striking a man. Officers said she was holding a baseball bat.
Larry R. Taylor, 36, of Beaver Street, was charged with domestic violence Nov. 3, accused of grabbing his wife by the hair, throwing her down and punching her.
Kristopher K. Harsh, 21, of Louisville, was charged Nov. 2 with assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest. Police said Harsh jumped on someone's back and choked and punched the victim.
Police were called to Akron General Medical Center after a 24-year-old man walked into the emergency room Nov. 2 with a gunshot wound to his finger. He refused to answer questions and said he didn't want police to help him.
A Helen Avenue boy, 13, was charged Nov. 6 with domestic violence after he threatened to shoot someone.
A 52-year-old man was struck over the head with a baseball bat Nov. 2 on West Street. The victim was hospitalized with severe head injuries.
Robberies
Two gunmen threatened a motorist sitting in a 2006 Ford truck at West Exchange Street and Delia Avenue, then dragged him from the vehicle and drove off in it on Nov. 8.
Two gunmen entered a residence in the 2300 block of Triplett Boulevard on Nov. 4 and robbed a woman, taking her wallet and a cell phone.
A man was punched in the abdomen in the 400 block of East South Street on Nov. 3. The victim was knocked down, and his attacker went through his pockets and took his money.
Thefts
Edward C. Casher, 48, was charged with breaking and entering Nov. 3, accused of walking on Perkins Street with aluminum gutters and downspouts. According to police, the items had been taken from 461 Perkins St., which is owned by the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
A 1997 Ford Taurus was reported stolen Nov. 10 at Manchester Road and Russell Avenue.
Someone broke into a home in the 400 block of Scheck Street on Nov. 8 and stole copper pipe.
Someone broke into a home in the 900 block of Chalker Street and stole watches, a DVD player, DVDs and a rifle on Nov. 8.
A woman told police Nov. 8 that someone stole bunk beds, box springs, mattresses, a refrigerator, microwave, dishes and silverware when she was moving into a residence in the 900 block of Beardsley Street.
A break-in was reported Nov. 8 in the 1300 block of Goodyear Boulevard. Someone forced open a door and stole a big-screen TV.
Two rifles and two shotguns were stolen Nov. 6 after someone broke out a window of a residence in the 1200 block of Florida Avenue.
Police arrested a 17-year-old Storer Avenue boy who was trying to break away the steering column of a 1995 Subaru Legacy in the 600 block of Orlando Avenue. The boy was wanted on several arrest warrants.
A burglary was reported Nov. 4 in the 200 block of Randel Avenue. Someone broke out a bedroom window and took a TV and laptop.
Miscellaneous
Elinor Avenue residents were in a dispute Nov. 8 regarding leaves being raked into the street. One neighbor threatened to slash another neighbor's tires and poison pet dogs, reports said.
A shooting was reported Nov. 8 in the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue. Someone fired three shots into a home and two shots into a Dodge Dakota.
Joseph T. Hill, 48, of Raymond Street, was charged Nov. 4 with burglary, rape and kidnapping.
Kenneth E. Smelko Jr., 41, of Honodle Avenue, was charged Nov. 3 with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Police were called to the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St., regarding Smelko, who was intoxicated, could hardly stand and had urinated in his pants, officers said. He became violent and verbally abusive while being booked, hit his face on the floor and was taken to a hospital.
Nikaia M. Crine-Noel, 30, of Chittenden Avenue, and Kurt L. Jones, 41, of North Hawkins Avenue, were charged Nov. 2 with prostitution. Police said the two were engaged in sexual activity for hire in the 1200 block of Wyley Avenue.
Cory R. Frey, 36, of East Market Street, was charged Nov. 2 with depositing litter, public indecency, and criminal damaging. According to reports, Frey was seen urinating in an elevator at 1 Perkins Square. When the elevator doors opened, two women and two children were waiting to get on, and Frey was exposed, police said. The elevator had to be shut down for disinfection, and the carpet had to be removed, reports said.

Eric Ludwig Jr., 19, of Princeton Street, was charged Nov. 10 with domestic violence. He's accused of striking his father in the head and face repeatedly because, as he told police, his father ''kept running his mouth.''
Menacing
A 47-year-old West Lake Avenue man reported Nov. 12 that three men drove by in a dark blue Ford Probe, and the driver pointed a rifle at him.
A South Van Buren Street woman reported Nov. 9 that her estranged husband threatened to cut up her body and bury it in the woods if she took their children to New Jersey. The husband denied making threats, but he said they quarreled because she wanted to take her daughter to visit a friend in prison.
Burglary
Burglars took a computer valued at $500, clothing and personal papers from a home in the 100 block of 15th Street Northwest on Nov. 8.
Jewelry and two coats, total value $700, were taken from an apartment in the 100 block of 16th Street Northwest between Oct. 9 and Nov. 9.
Someone broke a window enter an apartment in the 500 block of Norton Avenue and stole items valued at $600 on Nov. 9 or 10.
Drugs
A pharmacist for Rite-Aid, 1403 Wooster Road W., reported that a man dropped off a fraudulent prescription for a painkiller Nov. 9. The man returned for the drug, but left before police arrived.
Thefts
Someone stole metal fencing and pipes from a lot at 1415 W. Waterloo Road — where they were being stored by Reiter Dairy — and sold them to a recycling business for $23.
Copley Township
Arrests
Donius C. Grant, 20, of Akron, was charged Nov. 11 with possession of marijuana. During a traffic stop in the parking lot of Quality Inn, 70 Rothrock Road, an officer asked Grant if he had been drinking. Grant responded, ''I don't drink. I smoke,'' police said. When the officer asked Grant if he had marijuana in the car, Grant pulled a small bag of the drug from his pocket and handed it to the officer, police said.
Thefts
A Fairlawn woman reported Nov. 12 that she left a diamond ring in the restroom at Pad Thai, 3545 Brookwall Drive. The ring, valued at $750, was missing when she returned.
Landscaping plants valued at $800 were taken Nov. 8 from Graf Growers, 1015 White Pond Drive.
A prescription drug that belonged to a patient was taken Nov. 12 from a locked cabinet at REM Ohio, 1834 Jacoby Road.

Miscellaneous tools and equipment, total value $3,163, were reported stolen Nov. 6 from a forced-open Robinson Avenue residence.

Allside Inc., 3773 State Road, filed a theft report Nov. 2 after someone took $1,931 from an office.
Colin P. Gear-Jozsa, 19, of Edward Drive, Ravenna, was charged Nov. 1 with theft involving two CDs taken from Target, 449 Howe Ave.
Miscellaneous
Michael A. Parker, 24, of Emma Drive, Akron, was charged Nov. 5 with domestic violence. He is accused of telling his wife he would kill her if he could get away with it.
A 15-year-old Eighth Street girl was charged Nov. 3 with obstructing justice. Police said she hid a robbery suspect and misled police to prevent an arrest.
Donnealle M. Cate, 30, of Third Street, was charged Nov. 3 with falsification, accused of filing a false stolen-vehicle report after she crashed her car.
A 17-year-old Hanover Street girl was charged Nov. 2 with illegal conveyance of a weapon in school. The girl is accused of having a pocketknife in her purse at Cuyahoga Falls High School, 2300 Fourth St.
A State Road boy, 11, was charged Nov. 1 with criminal mischief after he burned books and papers with lighter fluid in a grill on 12th Street.

Robert Maxwell, 28, of Ripley Avenue, was booked at the Summit County Jail on Nov. 6. He is accused of throwing a woman to the ground at a Crows Nest Circle residence.
Lucille Humphrey, 41, of Hardesty Road, Akron, was arrested Nov. 8 and summoned to Barberton Municipal Court. She is accused of grabbing the hair of a Cuyahoga Falls woman and throwing her to the ground on Tabs Road.
Thefts
Someone stole $8,500 in jewelry, a purse and a checkbook left in a car on Brookview Court on Nov. 7 or 8.
An East Nimisila Road resident said a snowplow blade valued at $500 was taken from his property between Nov. 2 and 4.

Traffic offenses
Kendra R. Malvey, 20, of Elizabeth Drive, Stow, was charged Nov. 8 with operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to control after crashing her vehicle in a large ditch on Terex Road.
Kathleen M. Phipps, 44, of Cheshire Road, was charged Nov. 7 with failure to control, failure to stop after an accident and obstructing official business. Police said Phipps crashed her vehicle on Barlow Road, damaging the vehicle and city property.

Fred Young, 30, of Church Street, was arrested on two felony warrants and booked at the Summit County Jail.

Douglas Electric, 3746 Prospect St., reported Nov. 6 that a check for $79,700 for a construction job had been returned because of insufficient funds.
A break-in was reported Nov. 3 in the 400 block of South Cleveland Avenue. Someone cut the lock off a garage door and took a 2007 four-wheeler, air compressor and tool set.

Arson
A Uniontown woman told police she parked her father's car on Pancake Lane on Nov. 3, then later discovered the vehicle had been set on fire. An iPod and clothing, total value $640, were reported stolen.
Norton
Arrests
Six boys, 15 to 17 years old, were charged Nov. 3 with delinquency by reason of curfew violation and being unruly. Police said they ran and hid after an officer saw them carrying several bags on Driftwood Road. Police said the boys admitted they were going to use the eggs, sugar, flour, vegetable oil and maple syrup in the bags to vandalize a house on Grenfall Road.
Breaking and entering
Someone broke into two vacant businesses at 2960 Barber Road and 2968 Barber Road on Nov. 10. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Forgery
An Erma Road woman reported Nov. 9 that in October she wrote a check to pay for candles that the daughter of an acquaintance was selling. She said the check was made out to the candle company, had not been cashed, and she has not received the candles. While checking her account online, however, she noticed another check for more than $100 was written to her acquaintance and paid by her bank.

A Killian Road resident came home Nov. 8 and found her garage and home had been entered. A laptop computer and other items, total value $1,000, were missing.
Theft
A Mogadore Road construction company representative told police Nov. 5 that between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, construction materials valued at $2,599 were taken from a South Cleveland Avenue physician's office.
Aggravated robbery
Police learned that a man entered a fast-cash business on East Waterloo Road when it opened Nov. 8, indicated he had a gun, demanded money, but fled without any cash.
Breaking and entering
A burglar broke into a High Grove Boulevard business Nov. 2 or 3, forced open a large safe and stole $2,500 and a gun. Damage was estimated at $10,690.

Nicholas J. Dozanti, 24, of Londonairy Boulevard, Hudson, was charged Nov. 8 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing marked lanes.
Heather D. Weiss, 24, of Wadsworth, was charged Nov. 4 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing marked lanes.
Kari L. Nelson, 25, of Moraine Avenue, Akron, was charged Nov. 4 with operating a vehicle under the influence, not signaling before a lane change and having an open container.
Andrew R. Archer, 50, of Munroe Falls, was charged Nov. 3 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing marked lanes.
David C. Reilly, 39, of Brunswick, was charged Nov. 2 with operating a vehicle under the influence, crossing marked lanes and driving a weaving course.
Robbery
Rick A. Sperling, 51, of Bar Harbor Lane, was charged Nov. 6 with robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. He is accused of shoplifting at Acme, 4445 Kent Road, and then fighting with store employees. He had a pocketknife, police said.
Theft
A utility trailer valued at $1,048 was stolen Nov. 7 from Stow Mobile Home Village, 3560 Orchard Drive.
Miscellaneous
Someone threw a pumpkin through a window of a home in the 4400 block of Maple Park Road Nov. 4.
A Klein Avenue girl, 17, was charged with domestic violence Nov. 6, accused of assaulting a family member.
A Friar Road resident told police Nov. 6 that a backyard trampoline had been dragged into the street.

Jason A. Gindlesperger, 23, of Scotland Drive, Akron, was charged Nov. 4 with operating a vehicle under the influence.
Richard D. Vatalaro, 59, of Eastwood Avenue, was charged Nov. 3 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing lanes of travel. A motorist reported a reckless driver at Dunbar and Norton roads. Police said they saw Vatalaro nearly drive off the road.

A 15-year-old South Court Street boy was charged Nov. 13 with receiving stolen property. He is accused of taking a pickup truck from Busy Bee Muffler, 301 S. Court St.
Timmy Chambers, 22, of Oakwood Village, and Lee D. Long, 19, of Canterbury Lane, were charged Nov. 8 with robbery.
Theft
Someone entered Wheely Clean, 969 N. Court St., through an open bay door Nov. 13 and stole a cash box containing $900 to $1,000.
Medina sheriff
Arrests
William Jon Brown, 35, of Columbus, was charged Nov. 7 with driving under suspension, having no operator's license and illegal license plates. A deputy stopped Brown on Interstate 71 in Westfield Township for erratic driving and not having a license-plate light. With the help of a police dog, the deputy found a suspected drug kit in the car under two fabric softener sheets, a deputy's report said. According to the report, Brown admitted using and possessing heroin, and prescription drugs were found in his jeans pocket.
A 15-year-old Homer Township boy was charged Nov. 13 with delinquency by threatening domestic violence. His mother told deputies the youth pushed and threatened her after she grounded him for being suspended from school.

The Society for Handicapped Citizens reported Nov. 7 that someone took two pills from a locked drug cart at the residential facility on Fenn Road in York Township.

Eugene Case, 59, of Ripley Avenue, was charged Nov. 10 with assault and aggravated menacing. He is accused of assaulting and threatening a nephew over money.
Breaking and entering
Wadsworth Body Shop, 851 Broad St., was broken into Nov. 9 or 10.
Someone pried open a back door Nov. 5 or 6 to enter Sub Station, 126 Main St. More than $300 was taken from the cash register.
Theft
A Dodge Caravan was taken Nov. 10 from the 100 block of Main Street.

Alcohol offenses
Christina M. Guy, 31, of Deerfield Township, was charged Oct. 31 with operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. According to reports, Guy yelled at the occupants of a sport utility vehicle in a parking lot in the 4200 block of state Route 43, struck the car with her hands and hit one of the occupants.
Erik Wagner, 41, of Spaulding Street, was charged Nov. 2 with operating a vehicle under the influence after police stopped him for speeding.

Robert E. Bella-Smuts, 21, of River Edge Drive, Kent, was charged Nov. 8 with operating a vehicle under the influence.
Samuel E. Vera, 19, of Thoreau Avenue, Akron, was charged Nov. 6 with operating a vehicle under the influence, underage drinking and complicity to theft.
Jessica M. Simpson, 21, of Oaklawn Park Boulevard, Stow, was charged Nov. 3 with operating a vehicle under the influence and making an improper right turn.
Nicholas J. Psenicnik, 23, of Morris Road, was charged Nov. 3 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing marked lanes.
Martin J. Kordinak, 50, of Norwood Street, was charged Nov. 4 with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test and reckless operation. Police said Kordinak ran a stop sign and was weaving on the road.

Michael T. Wheeler, 36, of Bay City, Mich., was charged Nov. 3 with theft. He is accused of stealing a Toys for Tots donation can from a drive-through window at Burger King on South Water Street. William A. Hacker Jr., 34, of Kawkawlin Township, Mich., was charged with complicity. Wheeler was a passenger in Hacker's car when the crime occurred, reports said.
Erin A. Stone-Williamson, 22, of East College Street, was charged Nov. 3 with assault. She is accused of throwing a cell phone at her ex-boyfriend, causing a cut.

Jonathan E. Heidish, 26, of Clinton, was charged Nov. 5 with aggravated burglary and felonious assault.
Stephanie M. Rowe, 35, of Oak Harbor, was charged Nov. 5 with grand theft, two counts of identity fraud and six counts of forgery.
Jeremy A. Dalton, 21, of Carthage Avenue, Kent, was charged Nov. 5 with trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine.
Rodney D. Johnson, 30, of Stine Court, Kent, was charged Nov. 2 with trafficking in marijuana, possession of criminal tools, identity fraud and forgery.
Cassie L. Brown, 18, of Garrettsville, was charged with complicity to trafficking in cocaine.

Political signs, total value $500, were reported stolen the weekend before the Nov. 6 election. Mayor John Grogan said 25 of his campaign signs were stolen, while opponent Paul Bagocius said 30 of his were taken.

Steven Gurganus, 23, of Mohr Road Northwest, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Nov. 7 on charges of burglary, assault and aggravated menacing after a man and woman said he forced entry into the victims' apartment, choked the man and threatened to kill him.
Brian Lustig, 37, of Malibu Street Northwest, was charged with felony domestic violence Nov. 5. He is accused of hitting a woman in the eye, causing swelling and bruising.
Evan Bennett, 21, of Forty Corners Road Northwest, was arrested Nov. 2 on warrants accusing him of two counts of trafficking in drugs and one of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Theft
A Canton woman reported Nov. 7 that someone broke a car window outside a Whipple Avenue Northwest store and took women's clothing and handbags, total value $600.

Jamie Sells, 25, of South Main Street, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Nov. 5 on a domestic violence charge after being accused of pinning his girlfriend to the floor with his knee, then fleeing before police arrived. He was found in a hallway of the apartment complex.

Joyce Cartwright, 19, of 13th Street Southeast, Canton, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Nov. 8 on a charge of felonious assault after a boy, 17, was stabbed twice in the back with a screwdriver and suffered seven cuts on his left hand in an altercation at a Kaiser Avenue Northeast home.

A Flushing, N.Y., vendor was ordered out of the Hartville MarketPlace on Nov. 3 after police seized 61 counterfeit purses, saying the man had them in his possession and intended to sell them.
Theft
A laptop computer valued at $1,374 was taken Nov. 2 from a teacher's desk at Lake Middle School on Market Avenue North.
Burglary
A Hampton Street Northwest man told police Nov. 4 that someone stole a radio and battery from his pickup truck and then entered his garage and took an electronic game system, shoes and tools, total value $836.

A television and an Xbox valued at $1,300 were taken Nov. 13 from a residence in the 11500 block of Back Massillon Road, Baughman Township.

Six CB radios and a speaker, total value $900, were taken Nov. 9 from trucks at Catrone Trucking, 2090 S. Crown Hill Road,

A 1999 Dodge Intrepid valued at $7,000 was taken Nov. 9 from a residence in the 11500 block of Back Massillon Road, Baughman Township.
Tools valued at $1,340 were taken Nov. 9 from a home in the 100 block of South Elyria Road, Plain Township.

Robbery
A man, 63, reported that two people forced their way into his Rebecca Street home Nov. 11 and took prescription drugs and $10,000 from two envelopes. The man suffered cuts on his face and a bump on his head.
Burglary
A computer, 100 DVDs and a television, total value $2,540, were taken Nov. 10 from a residence in the 200 block of Spink Street.

Bob H. Conrad, 31, of Lakemore, was charged Nov. 8 with domestic violence and disorderly conduct. He is accused of striking his wife in the face and refusing to listen to officers.
Ronald A. Robinson, 27, of West Long Street, was charged Nov. 7 with domestic violence. He is accused of pushing his live-in girlfriend into a door, choking her, punching her in the face, pushing her head through a glass pane and hitting her with an electric heater.
Steven M. Nixon, 34, of West Waterloo Road, was charged Nov. 6 with domestic violence, accused of grabbing a woman by the hair, dragging her and hitting her. Police said the woman had a bruised eye and a bloody elbow.
Anthony D. Threw, 39, of North Howard Street, was charged Nov. 5 with felony domestic violence. He is accused of spitting on his wife, hitting her in the abdomen and throwing hot soup at her.
Derrick D. Pollard, 28, of South Arlington Street, was charged Nov. 3 with domestic violence, accused of hitting a woman several times in the face and choking her.
Brian L. Gurganus, 20, Michael J. Hayes, 21, and Joseph T. Woodward, 20, all of Akron, were charged Nov. 3 with disorderly conduct. They are accused of making racial slurs to men outside a Kling Street residence, kicking the door, breaking out a window, and punching and kicking a resident.
Tynnetta Evans, 39, of Crosby Street, was charged Nov. 3 with domestic violence, accused of striking a man. Officers said she was holding a baseball bat.
Larry R. Taylor, 36, of Beaver Street, was charged with domestic violence Nov. 3, accused of grabbing his wife by the hair, throwing her down and punching her.
Kristopher K. Harsh, 21, of Louisville, was charged Nov. 2 with assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest. Police said Harsh jumped on someone's back and choked and punched the victim.
Police were called to Akron General Medical Center after a 24-year-old man walked into the emergency room Nov. 2 with a gunshot wound to his finger. He refused to answer questions and said he didn't want police to help him.
A Helen Avenue boy, 13, was charged Nov. 6 with domestic violence after he threatened to shoot someone.
A 52-year-old man was struck over the head with a baseball bat Nov. 2 on West Street. The victim was hospitalized with severe head injuries.

Two gunmen threatened a motorist sitting in a 2006 Ford truck at West Exchange Street and Delia Avenue, then dragged him from the vehicle and drove off in it on Nov. 8.
Two gunmen entered a residence in the 2300 block of Triplett Boulevard on Nov. 4 and robbed a woman, taking her wallet and a cell phone.
A man was punched in the abdomen in the 400 block of East South Street on Nov. 3. The victim was knocked down, and his attacker went through his pockets and took his money.
Thefts
Edward C. Casher, 48, was charged with breaking and entering Nov. 3, accused of walking on Perkins Street with aluminum gutters and downspouts. According to police, the items had been taken from 461 Perkins St., which is owned by the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
A 1997 Ford Taurus was reported stolen Nov. 10 at Manchester Road and Russell Avenue.
Someone broke into a home in the 400 block of Scheck Street on Nov. 8 and stole copper pipe.
Someone broke into a home in the 900 block of Chalker Street and stole watches, a DVD player, DVDs and a rifle on Nov. 8.
A woman told police Nov. 8 that someone stole bunk beds, box springs, mattresses, a refrigerator, microwave, dishes and silverware when she was moving into a residence in the 900 block of Beardsley Street.
A break-in was reported Nov. 8 in the 1300 block of Goodyear Boulevard. Someone forced open a door and stole a big-screen TV.
Two rifles and two shotguns were stolen Nov. 6 after someone broke out a window of a residence in the 1200 block of Florida Avenue.
Police arrested a 17-year-old Storer Avenue boy who was trying to break away the steering column of a 1995 Subaru Legacy in the 600 block of Orlando Avenue. The boy was wanted on several arrest warrants.
A burglary was reported Nov. 4 in the 200 block of Randel Avenue. Someone broke out a bedroom window and took a TV and laptop.

Elinor Avenue residents were in a dispute Nov. 8 regarding leaves being raked into the street. One neighbor threatened to slash another neighbor's tires and poison pet dogs, reports said.
A shooting was reported Nov. 8 in the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue. Someone fired three shots into a home and two shots into a Dodge Dakota.
Joseph T. Hill, 48, of Raymond Street, was charged Nov. 4 with burglary, rape and kidnapping.
Kenneth E. Smelko Jr., 41, of Honodle Avenue, was charged Nov. 3 with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Police were called to the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St., regarding Smelko, who was intoxicated, could hardly stand and had urinated in his pants, officers said. He became violent and verbally abusive while being booked, hit his face on the floor and was taken to a hospital.
Nikaia M. Crine-Noel, 30, of Chittenden Avenue, and Kurt L. Jones, 41, of North Hawkins Avenue, were charged Nov. 2 with prostitution. Police said the two were engaged in sexual activity for hire in the 1200 block of Wyley Avenue.
Cory R. Frey, 36, of East Market Street, was charged Nov. 2 with depositing litter, public indecency, and criminal damaging. According to reports, Frey was seen urinating in an elevator at 1 Perkins Square. When the elevator doors opened, two women and two children were waiting to get on, and Frey was exposed, police said. The elevator had to be shut down for disinfection, and the carpet had to be removed, reports said.

Eric Ludwig Jr., 19, of Princeton Street, was charged Nov. 10 with domestic violence. He's accused of striking his father in the head and face repeatedly because, as he told police, his father ''kept running his mouth.''

A 47-year-old West Lake Avenue man reported Nov. 12 that three men drove by in a dark blue Ford Probe, and the driver pointed a rifle at him.
A South Van Buren Street woman reported Nov. 9 that her estranged husband threatened to cut up her body and bury it in the woods if she took their children to New Jersey. The husband denied making threats, but he said they quarreled because she wanted to take her daughter to visit a friend in prison.

Burglars took a computer valued at $500, clothing and personal papers from a home in the 100 block of 15th Street Northwest on Nov. 8.
Jewelry and two coats, total value $700, were taken from an apartment in the 100 block of 16th Street Northwest between Oct. 9 and Nov. 9.
Someone broke a window enter an apartment in the 500 block of Norton Avenue and stole items valued at $600 on Nov. 9 or 10.

A pharmacist for Rite-Aid, 1403 Wooster Road W., reported that a man dropped off a fraudulent prescription for a painkiller Nov. 9. The man returned for the drug, but left before police arrived.

Someone stole metal fencing and pipes from a lot at 1415 W. Waterloo Road — where they were being stored by Reiter Dairy — and sold them to a recycling business for $23.

Donius C. Grant, 20, of Akron, was charged Nov. 11 with possession of marijuana. During a traffic stop in the parking lot of Quality Inn, 70 Rothrock Road, an officer asked Grant if he had been drinking. Grant responded, ''I don't drink. I smoke,'' police said. When the officer asked Grant if he had marijuana in the car, Grant pulled a small bag of the drug from his pocket and handed it to the officer, police said.

A Fairlawn woman reported Nov. 12 that she left a diamond ring in the restroom at Pad Thai, 3545 Brookwall Drive. The ring, valued at $750, was missing when she returned.

Six boys, 15 to 17 years old, were charged Nov. 3 with delinquency by reason of curfew violation and being unruly. Police said they ran and hid after an officer saw them carrying several bags on Driftwood Road. Police said the boys admitted they were going to use the eggs, sugar, flour, vegetable oil and maple syrup in the bags to vandalize a house on Grenfall Road.

Someone broke into two vacant businesses at 2960 Barber Road and 2968 Barber Road on Nov. 10. Nothing appeared to be missing.

An Erma Road woman reported Nov. 9 that in October she wrote a check to pay for candles that the daughter of an acquaintance was selling. She said the check was made out to the candle company, had not been cashed, and she has not received the candles. While checking her account online, however, she noticed another check for more than $100 was written to her acquaintance and paid by her bank.

Aggravated robbery
Police learned that a man entered a fast-cash business on East Waterloo Road when it opened Nov. 8, indicated he had a gun, demanded money, but fled without any cash.

William Jon Brown, 35, of Columbus, was charged Nov. 7 with driving under suspension, having no operator's license and illegal license plates. A deputy stopped Brown on Interstate 71 in Westfield Township for erratic driving and not having a license-plate light. With the help of a police dog, the deputy found a suspected drug kit in the car under two fabric softener sheets, a deputy's report said. According to the report, Brown admitted using and possessing heroin, and prescription drugs were found in his jeans pocket.
A 15-year-old Homer Township boy was charged Nov. 13 with delinquency by threatening domestic violence. His mother told deputies the youth pushed and threatened her after she grounded him for being suspended from school.
