Akron
Theft offenses

Pierre L. Watters, 48, of Plymouth Street, was charged May 22 with breaking and entering, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after reportedly entering a fenced lot at Bower's Towing to commit a theft, running from officers, ignoring their orders to stop and then resisting arrest by fighting with officers.

Nine catalytic converters were reported stolen May 21 from Fred Martin Chevrolet, 333 E. Market Street.

Gabriel G. Raicevich, 18, was charged May 21 with breaking and entering. Police said he was seen inside his mother's garage on Millbrook Street where a lawn trimmer was taken. He told police he sold it to a friend.

Bret Adkins, 20, of Montrose Avenue, was charged May 21 with burglary, carrying a concealed weapon and drug abuse-methamphetamine. A report said Adkins entered an East Emerling Street apartment to evade police. According to the report, he had misdemeanor warrants, a felony warrant for escape from Oriana House, and was in possession of a loaded handgun, trace amounts of meth and unknown pills.

Terrence D. Burgan, 40, was charged May 20 with burglary, breaking and entering, obstructing official business and obstructing justice for reportedly breaking into an apartment connected to a corner store on West South Street and trying to gain access to the store from inside the building.

Michael E. Lawson, 41, of Sunset View Drive, was charged May 19 with robbery. Police said he tried to leave Rite Aid, 600 N. Main St., with $30 worth of merchandise and fought with an employee who detained him.

Ra-Shae F. Greer, 20, of Orlando Avenue, was charged May 19 with receiving stolen property. Greer was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora that had been reported stolen the previous day during a home invasion on Preston Avenue, reports said.

Larry L. Jones, 46, of South Main Street, was summoned May 18 for theft after he was accused of taking a purse from a woman sleeping in the waiting room at Akron General Medical Center, 400 Wabash Ave.

Domestic violence/assault

Benjamin B. Fluellen, 41, of South Rhodes Avenue, was charged May 21 with domestic violence after being accused of punching his girlfriend in the face and stepping on her. Her shirt was ripped off and she had a bruised eye and bloody lip, reports said.

Christopher S. Monroe, 27, of Hilbish Avenue, and Amanda Swingle, 21, of Hillman Road, were charged May 21 with felonious assault. Monroe allegedly pulled a woman from her vehicle and Swingle punched the victim several times in the face. Monroe then held the victim down and Swingle bit her ear, reports said.

Marianne T. Joliet, 52, of East Wilbeth Road, was charged May 21 with six counts of felonious assault, six counts of aggravated menacing and public indecency. Joliet reportedly went outside wearing only a shirt and chased after six men with a ceramic paper towel holder, then got in her car and tried to run them down, reports said.

Steven A. Myers, 23, of Donald Avenue, was charged May 21 with domestic violence and theft. Myers took his girlfriend's money and when she followed him outside to get the money back, Myers began hitting her in the face, reports said. She had a chipped tooth, bite marks on her arm and blood in her right eye, reports said. The victim is eight months pregnant.

Hosea G. Linear, 20, of Shatto Street, was charged May 20 with felonious assault. A report said Linear chased a man around a vehicle and hit him with a coffee mug, cutting his ear, then threw the mug at the victim, hitting him in the face. He punched the victim numerous times in the head and face as well, reports said.

Miscellaneous

Police responded to Nadia Court May 21 regarding a man who had been shot in the leg. The man told police he had a gun in his pocket and had accidentally shot himself. The man was transported to Akron General for treatment.

Edwin Mojica, 40, of East Tallmadge Avenue, was charged May 19 with having an open container and inciting to violence after reportedly walking in the area of East South and Allyn streets with an open beer. He had two active warrants and tried to get the officers to fight him, reports said.

Barberton
Arrests

Thomas Eckel, 47, of Wooster Road North, was charged May 27 with possession of drugs, tampering with evidence and obstructing official business.

James M. Grindstaff III, 31, of Akron, was charged May 27 with having a weapon while under disability and aggravated menacing.

Disorderly conduct

A 48-year-old 31st Street Northwest man reportedly drove his car into a pedestrian area near the concession stand at the ball fields at 841 W. Hopocan Ave., causing bystanders to panic. The man reportedly told police he did it because his car was hit by a foul ball. He agreed not to hold the baseball league responsible for the damage to his vehicle, and the league director agreed not to pursue criminal charges.

Misuse of credit card

An employee of Arthur Treacher's, 7 31st St. S.W., was fired May 27 for stealing. Her employer told police the former employee entered two credit card numbers into the computer between May 14 and 22 and received cash back for the transactions. The manager said the credit cards did not belong to the former employee.
Sexual assault

Two boys, ages 4 and 3, disclosed during counseling that they were sexually molested by a 17-year-old boy. Police are investigating.

Theft

A Third Street Northwest man reported May 27 that two bicycles were stolen from his porch and prescription medications were taken from his car between May 23 and 27.

Copley Township
Burglary

A 9 mm, semiautomatic handgun and $300 in cash were taken during a burglary of a home in the 1500 block of Sunnyacres Road on May 24.

Theft

Fourteen instant lottery tickets valued at $75 were taken from Copley Marathon, 1904 Copley Road, on May 27. A report said security cameras show a woman walking around the store, taking merchandise and hiding it under her blouse and in the waist of her pants. She then reaches over the front counter and takes the tickets. While the woman was stealing from the store, two male accomplices were taking turns distracting the store's employee, the report says.

A 1994 Ford Explorer was taken from the lot of Plevris Auto Service, 3902 Copley Road, on May 22.

Coventry Township
Arrests

Matthew Deem, 31, of 25th Street, Barberton, was booked at the Summit County Jail on May 22 following an incident on Portage Lakes Drive in which a Massillon Road woman said Deem punched her in the head during an argument over car keys.

Laura Raines, 32, of Otter Road, was booked in Summit County on a domestic violence charge May 20. She is accused of striking a man in the head at the residence.

Burglary

A Denman Drive woman told deputies May 19 that a portable PlayStation and a laptop, total value $1,700, were taken from her home.

Cuyahoga Falls
Theft offenses

America's #1 Remodeler, 830 Munroe Falls Ave., reported a theft May 19. A ladder, jacks, a wheelbarrow and scrap aluminum were taken from a yard. The loss was estimated at $630.

Campbell Construction Company reported the theft of $1,500 worth of supplies May 19. Someone cut a lock off a trailer at a site on Cavalier Trail.

Almost 900 pounds of scrap copper was reported stolen May 19 from Cuyahoga Falls Electric Services Department, 2550 Bailey Road.

Domestic violence/assault

John S. Lemmeyer, 26, of Brecksville, was charged May 24 with felony domestic violence. He was accused of kicking the mother of his child in the legs, pulling her hair out and threatening to kill her with a shotgun.

An Oakwood Drive girl, 14, was charged May 20 with assault. She is accused of pushing and kicking a teacher at Bolich Middle School, 2360 13th St.

Miscellaneous

Demarus D. Johnson, 24, of Akron, was charged May 21 with resisting arrest and escape. A report said Johnson slipped out of his handcuffs after receiving his sentence on a traffic charge, then fled from Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court and refused orders after being placed back into custody.

Fairlawn
Arrests

Nelson E. Jordan, 56, of South Miller Road, was charged May 25 with domestic violence. He is accused of striking his girlfriend in the face, pushing her, and grabbing her around the neck during a quarrel over money.

Burglary

A 27-inch flat-screen television was taken from a home in the 200 block of Kenridge Road during a burglary on May 25. A report said the residence was ransacked, but nothing else appeared to be missing.

Misuse of credit card

A 44-year-old Caladonia Avenue man reported May 21 that someone used his American Express card for Internet purchases of more than $100.

Green
Arrest

Ivan Rasinai, 53, of Greenridge Drive, was charged with domestic violence May 22 and booked at the Summit County Jail after a woman said she was struck in the face during an altercation at the residence.

Theft

Two GPS systems plus tools, total value $900, were reported stolen May 21 from a Sara Drive resident's vehicle.

Burglary

A Massillon Road woman reported May 19 that her garage was entered and $2,600 worth of items were taken, including an above-ground swimming pool and equipment.

Mogadore
Theft offenses

Eric L. Hudkins, 36, of Akron, was charged May 22 with two counts of burglary, aggravated arson, receiving stolen property and assault on an officer. Hudkins allegedly broke into a Curtis Street residence on May 21, burglarized it and then set it on fire. Officers stopped Hudkins on Ellet Avenue with items that were later reported stolen from a Herbert Street residence. Police said Hudkins had items in his possession from the Curtis Street residence, which had been set on fire the day before.

New Franklin
Arrest

Glenna Walk, 65, of Point Comfort Drive, was booked at the Summit County Jail on May 15 on an assault charge after she allegedly struck the arresting officer in the face with her fist. He said the assault occurred after he asked her how she sustained bruises on her back and face.

Breaking and entering

Three chain saws and other items, valued at $929, were reported stolen over the past several weeks from a garage on Vanderhoof Road.

Norton
Breaking and entering

A gum-ball machine valued at $700 was taken during a break-in at Ace Hardware, 3200 Greenwich Road, on May 25. The machine is about 5 feet tall and has neon lights inside. The globe is about three-fourths full of gumballs and says ''Ace'' on the outside.

Drugs

A pharmacist for Ritzman Pharmacy, 4089 Cleveland-Massillon Road, reported May 23 he has been filling prescriptions for a couple who may have been altering the dates on the prescriptions.
Sexual assault

A Rittman man reported May 26 that his 6-year-old daughter told him her mother's boyfriend touched her inappropriately while she was visiting her mother's Norton home. The man was instructed to take his daughter to Akron Children's Hospital. A referral was made to Children's Services.

Theft

A 10-foot aluminum boat was stolen from a driveway in the 3500 block of Eastern Road between May 21 and 22.

About 200 gallons of diesel fuel, valued at around $900, was pumped out of a truck parked in the 100 block of 31st Street Northwest between May 20 and 25.

Springfield Township
Arrest

Michael Greathouse, 18, and his sister, Samantha Greathouse, 19, both of Onondago Trail, were arrested in connection with a telephone harassment and menacing case involving Michael's ex-girlfriend. Michael Greathouse was booked at the Summit jail while his sister was to Barberton Municipal Court.

Burglary

Several boxes containing financial statements and research charts, total value $1,100, were reported stolen May 21 from a doctor's residence on Canton Road.

Theft

A Uniontown man called police to his High Grove Boulevard business to report that during a two-month period he was scammed out of $7,218 while trying to buy a motorcycle from an Internet site.

Stow
Drunk Driving

James R. Gregory, 49, of Munroe Falls, was charged May 23 with operating a vehicle under the influence, crossing marked lanes and two counts of driving under suspension.

Tallmadge
Miscellaneous

Matthew P. Maimona, 24, of Cascades Boulevard, Kent, was charged May 24 with operating a vehicle under the influence.

Douglas A. Congrove Jr., 18, of Eastwood Avenue, Akron, was charged May 22 with theft and criminal trespass. According to a report, Congrove hid a bottle of Ice 101 down the front of his pants at Acme, 600 South Ave., and left the store. He had previously been banned from all Acme stores, reports said.

Cedric M. McCullen, 38, of South Avenue, was charged May 21 with domestic violence after he was accused of throwing a beer can at a woman. He also had an active warrant, reports said.

Medina County

Medina
Assault

A man reported he was assaulted by a woman in the 800 block of Branch Road on May 26. The man had several cuts on his face.

Theft

Prescription medication was taken from an apartment in the 700 block of Miner Drive on May 23.

 

Armstrong Cable personnel reported May 27 that they found cable wire running across Carver Lane. The cable was being stolen from an apartment that subscribed to the cable company.

Wadsworth
Arrests

Thomas H. Bulgrin, 61, of Doylestown, was arrested May 28 on a warrant from Wayne County for arson. The warrant was found during a computer check after a traffic stop on Main Street.

Todd W. Lindsay, 43, of Mineral City, was arrested May 27 on a warrant from Carroll County for passing bad checks. The warrant was discovered during a random computer check of license plates.

Michael S. Goodson, 35, of North Pardee Street, was charged May 24 with assault. He is accused of pushing a woman and causing her to fall when she asked him to leave her property because he was throwing beer cans.

Theft

Lumber was taken from a construction site in the 1000 block of Williams Reserve Boulevard between May 23 and 27.

Portage County

Kent
Drunk Driving

Stephen J. Frazier, 32, of Higby Drive, Stow, was charged May 24 with operating a vehicle under the influence and speeding.

Gerald E. Factor, 66, of Uniontown, was charged May 26 with operating a vehicle under the influence and crossing marked lanes.

Christopher W. Longfellow, 35, of Summit Gardens Boulevard, was charged May 23 with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test and not wearing a seat belt.

Michael P. Lopeman, 24, of Williams Avenue, Ravenna, was charged May 21 with operating a vehicle under the influence, not using a turn signal and not wearing a seat belt. Lopeman refused a breath test, reports said.

Theft offenses


Richard C. Cain, 44, of Flora Avenue, Akron, was charged May 23 with aggravated burglary and disrupting public services.

Ravenna
Domestic violence

Brian C. Warsheskie, 28, of Bryn Mawr Street, was charged May 25 with domestic violence. Warsheskie threatened the life of his child's mother, reports said.

Savanna J. Czerwony, 21, of East Main Street, was charged May 25 with domestic violence. Police said she caused physical injury to the father of her child.

Ryan W. Tack, 21, of Sapp Road, was charged May 24 with domestic violence. The report said Tack was physically violent with his wife.

Drunk Driving

Brian T. McGee, 47, of Walters Road, Streetsboro, was charged May 27 with operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test and driving under suspension.

Tammy L. Braynard, 35, of Day Street, was charged May 26 with operating a vehicle under the influence and driving under suspension.

Theft

Vicky D. Spice, 42, was summoned May 24 for theft. Spice is accused of attempting to steal $330 worth of food from Giant Eagle.

Portage Sheriff
Warrant arrests

Karl J. Mazur, 45, of Newton Falls, was charged May 23 with two counts of criminal nonsupport.

Ira T. Boyd, 36, of East Waterloo Road, Akron, was charged May 22 with attempted aggravated burglary.

Eric P. Miller, 19, of Hill Street, Ravenna, was charged May 22 with burglary.

John C. Petro, 20, of Woodbine Avenue, Ravenna, was charged May 22 with operating a vehicle under the influence.

Streetsboro
Miscellaneous

Khris McKivigan, 27, of Ridgeview Court, was charged May 17 with domestic violence. McKivigan was accused of striking her husband in the head with a lamp.

Heather Rentz, 30, of Bridgeport Avenue, was charged May 18 with assault. She was accused of striking her roommate with a candle in a glass jar, causing an injury to the woman's knuckles.

Anthony Lanave, 25, of Sebring, was charged May 19 with operating a vehicle under the influence and speeding.

Stark County

Canal Fulton
Arrest

Terry Swain, 38, of Pauli Street, was booked at the Stark County Jail on May 19 for having weapons under disability, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and driving under suspension. A traffic stop on East Cherry Street at Denshire Avenue resulted in the officer seeing a rifle on the back seat and finding 26 rounds of .22-caliber ammunition in the van.

Jackson Township
Arrests

Lakisha Jackson, 34, of Youngstown, was arrested by the State Highway Patrol on May 18 and turned over to Jackson Township police on a warrant for a felony charge of passing bad checks.

Christine Neff, 38, of Traphagen Street Northwest, was booked at the Stark jail on May 19 for domestic violence and felony aggravated menacing. She allegedly was in an altercation with a man and then threatened to kill the arresting officer, his family and members of the Jackson Police Department.

Robbery

 

A robber brandishing a handgun took four cartons of cigarettes, total value $180, from a gas station convenience store on Whipple Avenue Northwest on May 22.

Thefts

A catalytic converter, valued at $700, was reported stolen from a truck while parked behind a Promler Street Northwest business between May 16 and 21.

Two women reportedly entered a Belden Village optical company May 20 and fled with five pairs of eyeglass frames valued at $939.

Two checks, total value $2,164, were reported stolen from a Parkdale Avenue Northwest resident's car while he was inside a Fulton Drive Northwest convenience store May 20.

A Windward Trace Northwest man told police May 19 that a radio, wallet and iPod, total value $670, were taken from his vehicle while parked in his driveway.

Two catalytic converters, value unlisted, were cut from vehicles parked at a Whipple Avenue Northwest business May 19.

A Columbus man said someone smashed the window of his van while parked on Villa Glen Circle Northwest on May 18 and took a briefcase, laptop computer and other items, total value $1,150.

North Canton
Arrest

Police responded to a May 18 call that a male teen was being beaten up by his mother at their McKinley Avenue Southeast residence, but after officers sorted through the evidence they determined the reverse had occurred. The 16-year-old suspect was booked at the Stark County Juvenile Attention Center on charges of domestic violence and being a delinquent juvenile.

Plain Township
Arrests

Scottie White Jr., 25, of Caprice Avenue Northwest, was booked in the Stark County Jail on a felonious assault charge May 22. White is accused of shooting Steven Steele, 22, of Martindale Road Northeast, when the victim opened his door after hearing a knock. Reports said White was captured in his apartment after deputies secured the area and evacuated occupants of adjacent apartments.

Melissa Dixon, 21, of Guilford Avenue Northwest, was booked at the Stark jail for domestic violence May 19 after she was accused of striking and choking her live-in partner during a dispute.

Riccardo Rushin, 18, of Rowland Avenue Northeast, was jailed May 19 for allegedly striking a GlenOak High School student several times when the victim was seated at a school table.

Uniontown
Thefts

A Shoshone Avenue Northwest resident said his car was entered and a wedding band, CDs and other items, total value $1,070, were taken May 21.

On the same day, an Apache Street Northwest man said someone entered his car and took a GPS system, a jacket and other items, total value $865.

Breaking and entering

A Cleveland Avenue Northwest man reported May 16 that someone entered his warehouse on Apache Street and stole a refrigerator, stereo system and other items, total value $8,212. His van also was stolen but no value was placed on the vehicle.

Wayne County

Wayne Sheriff
Burglary

Copper pipe, a washer and a dryer were taken May 22 from a residence in the 1300 block of West Moreland Road, Franklin Township.

Theft

Nine storm doors and a screen valued at $80 were taken May 20 from outside a residence in the 12600 block of Shank Road, Chippewa Township.

A man stole a $250 check from his father's residence in the 200 block of South Eckert Road, Sugar Creek Township, on May 20 and attempted to cash it in Smithville.

Cash and wallets valued at $185 were taken from unlocked cars in the 16600 block of Bieri Road. A radar detector, 50 CDs and a strobe light, total value $1,270, were taken from unlocked cars in the 19100 block of Warwick Road. A radar detector, a cell phone and other items were taken from unlocked cars in the 14300 block and 18200 block of Galehouse Road. All the incidents occurred May 20 in Chippewa Township.

A 2002 Ford pickup, valued at $20,000, was taken May 20 from a residence in the 12200 block of Shondel Road, Chippewa Township.

Wooster
Arrests

Jason D. Bevins, 35, of Akron, was arrested May 22 on charges of possession of cocaine and of drug paraphernalia when he was stopped as a suspect in the 300 block of North Bever Street. A police report said that officers found 2.58 grams of cocaine.

Jami M. Hearn, 32, of Wooster, was arrested May 22 on charges of possession of drugs and of drug paraphernalia after police served a warrant for his arrest in the 400 block of West Larwill Street. Hearn fought with officers, who received scrapes on their arms and legs, as he tried to hide cocaine.

Domestic Violence

A 22-year-old woman reported May 10 that her husband pushed her at their residence in the 400 block of East Larwill Street.

Theft

Four checks with a value of $800 were taken May 21 by the daughter of an 86-year-old woman at her residence in the 100 block of Billiar Street. The daughter forged her mother's name and cashed the checks.

A 1987 Chevrolet was taken May 17 from a residence in the 300 block of North Market Street and recovered the next day in Rittman.

A 1988 Ford Thunderbird was taken May 18 from a residence in the 400 block of Nold Avenue.
