— Arrests
Deshawn A. Jones, 28, of Fifth Avenue, was charged Sept. 15 with possession of drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply with the order of a peace officer, and possession of marijuana. Jones is accused of speeding off when officers tried to stop his car. He allegedly stopped on Basin Terrace, but failed to put the car into park as he fled from it. A loaded gun was thrown from the car during the chase, police said; a second gun was found in the car.
Calvin D. Chisolm, 42, of East Market Street, was charged Sept. 18 with robbery. Chisolm is accused of stealing a case of beer from Rite Aid, 640 N. Main St., and throwing the case at the clerk after she chased him.
Bradley McDonald, 20, of Kentucky Avenue, was charged Sept. 20 with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing. He is accused of kicking and punching his father, kicking furniture and breaking a window.
Romeo Thomas, 21, of Delia Avenue, was arrested Sept. 19 on a warrant. During his arrest, police reported finding a counterfeit $50 bill in his pocket.
Henrietta Jones, 44, of Cleveland, was charged Sept. 21 with theft, having an open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, misrepresenting her identification, disorderly conduct and felony possession of drugs. Jones is accused of stealing a steak from Save-a-Lot, 1375 Copley Road, by placing it in a plastic bag she brought into the store. According to the report, she also had a bottle of beer in the bag that was leaking and a glass crack pipe was found in her purse.
Brad Harger, 35, of Lovers Lane, was charged Sept. 17 with domestic violence. He is accused of shoving his girlfriend, causing her to fall face-first onto concrete. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Matthew T. Motley, 19, of Everton Drive, was charged Sept. 18 with domestic violence. He is accused of striking his girlfriend in their apartment.
Anthony Sams, 29, of Ruckel Road, was charged Sept. 18 with violating a protection order. He is accused of assaulting a woman while under court order not to contact her.
Eric A. Farrey, 28, of West Burns Avenue, was charged Sept. 17 with domestic violence. A woman told police that Farrey hit her repeatedly as the two rode in a car on Russell Avenue. She said she jumped out of the vehicle, but he found her, forced her back into the car and began hitting her again. She cut her foot on broken glass, and Farrey took her to St. Thomas Hospital, but she said that while they were in the waiting room, Farrey grabbed her by the throat. She said he also flicked a lighted cigarette in her eye.
Juwan Conley, 43, of Fairbanks Place, was charged Sept. 17 with forgery, and police are looking for two more suspects. Conley, another woman and a man are accused of presenting counterfeit checks for just under $500 for payment at Chase Bank, 1835 W. Market St. Reports said that when Conley allegedly brought a third check from the same company into the bank, the teller became suspicious and Conley left the bank, leaving behind her identification.
— Aggravated menacing
A 56-year-old South Maple Street man reported Sept. 19 that he was sitting outside when a 64-year-old man who was intoxicated rolled up in his wheelchair and threatened to stab him.
— Assault
A 29-year-old Akron man told police he was discussing a game of darts with four men at the Basement Bar, 255 East Waterloo Road, on Sept. 20 when the men began hitting him. He refused treatment by paramedics.
A 38-year-old man reportedly entered a business in the 200 block of West Bartges Street, confronted a male worker about an affair he said the worker was having with his wife, then punched the worker in the face. Police referred the victim of the assault to the city prosecutor's office.
— Breaking and entering
Between Sept. 11 and 17, about 20 duplexes in the Euclid and Rhodes avenues area were broken into and copper pipe was taken, reports said.
— Burglary
A notebook computer, printer, cell phone and jewelry were taken from a home in the 500 block of Sumner Street on Sept. 18.
A television was taken from a home in the 900 block of Clara Avenue on Sept. 18.
Video games, a laptop computer and cash were among the items taken from a home in the 700 block of South Hawkins Avenue on Sept. 18.
— Intimidation of a witness
A Beck Avenue man reported Sept. 17 that he received a call the day before from a man he is scheduled to testify against. He said the man threatened to shoot his house and said the prospective witness ''better not be seen on the streets.''
— Suspicious person
A 19-year-old Stuber Street woman reported Sept. 16 that a woman came to her door and asked her to fill out a voter registration change of address form. When she said no, the woman put her foot in the door so the resident couldn't close it. When a man began to get out of the woman's car, the victim said she felt intimidated and filled out the form.
— Theft
A 21-year-old Akron woman reported Sept. 20 that she left her card in an ATM
at 484 E. Waterloo Road and someone then withdrew $100 from her account.
A diamond tennis bracelet was stolen from a home in the 700 block of Ridgecrest Road between July 1 and Sept. 1, according to a report filed Sept. 14.
A 1997 Pontiac Grand Am was taken from the parking lot of Firestone High School, 333 Rampart Ave., on Sept. 17.
A wallet containing a debit card and $200 was reported stolen from a room at Akron Children's Hospital, 400 Wabash Ave., on Sept. 17.
Barberton
— Arrests
Robert L. Byrd, 55, of East Hopocan Avenue, was charged Sept. 22 with domestic violence. Byrd's girlfriend told police he punched and kicked her repeatedly. She said he told her to leave, and when she tried, he attacked her again.
Kenneth W. Quintrell, 44, of Springfield Township, was charged Sept. 23 with threatening domestic violence. He is accused of calling his 22-year-old son and threatening him.
A 16-year-old Herms Court girl was charged Sept. 23 with delinquency by reason of assault. She is accused of luring a 14-year-old girl to Tuscarawas Park, then assaulting her.
— Burglary
Someone broke into the basement of an apartment building in the 500 block of Rubber Street Sept. 19 or 20. Copper pipes hooked into the hot water tanks were taken.
— Menacing
A 20-year-old West Ford Avenue woman reported Sept. 20 that while she was driving west on Robinson Avenue, a former classmate and the classmate's mother began yelling at her as they rode in the mother's Jeep Cherokee. The Ford Avenue woman said the mother cut her off and drove close to her car so the daughter could yell at her. The Ford Avenue woman drove to a relative's home so the pair wouldn't know where she lives. The victim said there has been conflict between her and the accused since high school.
Copley Township
— Menacing
A Conestoga Trail man reported Sept. 19 that someone left a threatening note taped to his door. The note was turned over to police.
— Misuse of credit card
An Oakmont Drive man reported Sept. 16 that someone made more than $500 in unauthorized charges to his credit card.
— Theft
A purse containing credit cards was taken from a car parked at Copley Community Park, 3232 Copley Road, on Sept. 18. A window was broken to enter the car.
More than $500 was taken from a drawer in a Jacoby Road group home. The drawer was forced open.
Coventry Township
— Breaking and entering
A cordless drill and cordless saw, with a total value of $500, were reported stolen from the garage of a South Bender Avenue home.
Fairlawn
— Menacing
Zachary Zazo, 21, of Bancroft Road, was charged Sept. 19 with menacing, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing. Zazo's neighbor said she saw him throw eggs at the front door of her home. Zazo reportedly told police he threw the eggs in retaliation for the couple's 18-month-old son crying and waking Zazo. The child's father told police the child was crying because of a fall in the driveway while playing. The father told police that Zazo told him to control his child or that Zazo would do it for him.
Yushon T. White, 32, of Cleveland, was charged Sept. 20 with theft. He is accused of stealing a plasma television, valued at about $900, from Wal-Mart, 3750 W. Market St.
— Found property
A Sony CyberShot 7.2 megapixel digital camera was found in the east drive of Rosemont Commons on West Market Street. A man turned in the camera to police.
— Passing bad checks
A woman bought two round-trip tickets to Amsterdam from Time to Remember Travel, 30 Shiawassee Ave., on Sept. 9. She paid with a personal check, which was returned for nonsufficient funds. The travel agency tried to contact the woman by mail, phone and e-mail, but the woman has not responded.
— Theft
A Dalton Drive woman reported Sept. 22 that someone stole her wallet from her unlocked car, then used the debit card to withdraw more than $700. She said her PIN number was in the wallet.
Three checks were stolen from BP, 3110 W. Market St. The theft was discovered by the manager Sept. 16.

— Arrests
Jason Candles, 26, of Southwood Drive, was booked at the Summit County Jail on a domestic violence charge Sept. 15 after another man said the suspect pointed a gun at him.
Brandye Dague, 33, of Sweitzer Road, was jailed in Summit County on Sept. 14. She is accused of kicking and hitting a man at the home.
Jeffrey Jagger, 47, of South Arlington Road, was jailed Sept. 11 after a woman said he started throwing her belongings around the house, spit in her face and threatened to harm her.
— Burglary
A pistol, jewelry and a DVD player, worth a total of $1,120, were reported stolen Sept. 16 from a Moore Road home.
— Passing bad checks
A Max Road woman said Sept. 12 that she received a check to deposit in her account and was told to transfer a portion of it to an agent in New York via Western Union. After following the instructions, she learned that the check was canceled, leaving her account with a negative $3,850 balance.
— Theft
An Akron-Canton Airport charter airline service reported Sept. 12 that in the last two months, 680 gallons of fuel, worth a total of $2,358, have been taken from the firm's fuel farm at the airport.
Lakemore
— Passing bad checks
A Lakemore man told police Sept. 18 that he received a $4,250 check in the mail with instructions to deposit it in his account and withdraw $100. He learned later from the bank that the check was fraudulent.
New Franklin
— Arrest
Melissa Swartz, 37, of Boston Avenue, was booked at the Summit County Jail on Sept. 15 after a man said she punched him and bit his right ring finger during a confrontation at the home.
— Burglary
A Manchester Road resident said Sept. 12 that a DVD/VCR combo unit and cash, worth a total of $800, were stolen from her home.
Norton
— Arrests
Nathaniel R. Freund, 31, of Givens Drive, was charged Sept. 21 with domestic violence. He is accused of pulling a woman out of a van by her legs, then forcing her into the house. She was able to break free and ran to a neighbor's home.
— Animal neglect
A Norton Avenue women called Sept. 21 to report that a woman in a blue Chevrolet Blazer dropped off three cats in front of the caller's home. When she asked the woman what she was doing, the woman said she was ''moving the cats.''
— Breaking and entering
Tools valued at $1,500 were taken from a shed in the 3700 block of Summit Road on Sept. 19. A report said someone pried back a steel lock cover to open the lock.
— Burglary
Stereo equipment and a notebook computer were stolen from a home in the 3600 block of Luray Drive Sept. 21.
— Drugs
A pharmacist from Ritzman's Pharmacy, 4047 Cleveland-Massillon Road, reported Sept. 18 that on Sept. 13, a man tried to have a fraudulent prescription filled. When the pharmacist called the doctor to confirm the order, the man left the store.
— Fraud
An 84-year-old Long Drive woman reported Sept. 17 that a caller who told her he was from her bank said two withdrawals had been made from her bank account. The woman called her bank and was told no one called her.
Springfield Township
— Aggravated robbery
A man armed with a gun entered a Canton Road drive-through office Sept. 14 and fled with $475, police were told.
— Burglary
A Sanitarium Road resident told police Sept. 10 that he discovered $42,000 was missing from his safe.
— Breaking and entering
A Lore City man told authorities Sept. 13 that furniture and other items worth a total of $1,771 were stolen from a Shanafelt Avenue storage unit.
Cash and medications worth a total of $1,000 were stolen from an East Waterloo Road home Sept. 11.
— Theft
An Akron gutter company spokesperson said a generator and a 200-pound roll of foil worth a total of $769 were taken from a company truck on Sypher Road.
Medina County
Medina
— Arrests
Teona Latten, 34, of West Union Street, was charged Sept. 17 with possession of crack cocaine. She was arrested after a search of her apartment by police and members of the Medina County Drug Task Force.
Sharon L. Johnson, 39, of Cleveland, was charged Sept. 17 with misuse of the 911 system. She is accused of calling 911 three times from an East Reagan Parkway address when there was no emergency.
— Burglary
Cash was taken from a home in the 300 block of East Smith Road on Sept. 18.
— Criminal damaging
Copper pipes were cut from air-conditioning units at three houses on Douglas Lane on Sept. 18.
Wadsworth
— Arrests
Scott A. Mooney, 34, of West Salem, was charged Sept. 18 with furnishing false information to a peace officer, driving under suspension, and driving without a valid license. Mooney was stopped by police on Interstate 76 for an equipment violation. He is accused of giving the wrong name to an officer to avoid receiving a citation.
— Assault
A 14-year-old boy reported Sept. 22 that another teen stole his skateboard, then punched him on the back of the head. The skateboard was later returned.
— Burglary
Someone broke into a State Street apartment Sept. 21 and stole more than $200.
— Theft
A Pioneer CD/radio combination and $150 were taken Sept. 20 from a car parked in the 200 bock of Water Street.
Stark County
Canal Fulton
— Arrests
Eric Baldridge, 30, of Akers Avenue, Akron, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Sept. 16. He is accused of passing bad checks.
Lawrence Fenn, 59, of Ben Fulton Avenue, Lawrence Township, was jailed in Stark County on Sept. 12 by Canal Fulton police. He is accused of menacing by stalking.
— Breaking and entering
A safe, cash and gift cards, worth a total of $2,634, were reported stolen Sept. 12 from a South Locust Street restaurant.
Jackson Township
— Arrests
Sandra Stephan, 59, of West Comet Road, Clinton, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Sept. 18 on a domestic violence charge after an altercation with her husband in their pickup truck as they drove in Jackson Township. Her husband, William Stephan, 59, also was booked at the jail, accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Lora Peaspanen, 37, and William Lynch, 64, both of Meadowview Drive Northwest, were charged with domestic violence Sept. 17. They are accused of striking each other during a confrontation that ended in their front yard.
Phillip Dula, 24, of Oakwood Avenue Northeast, Massillon, turned himself in to Jackson police on Sept. 14 on a warrant for felony domestic violence and criminal damaging.
Daniel Capalingo, 34, of South Cedar Street, East Canton, was jailed in Stark on Sept. 14 on a Jackson warrant charging him with menacing by stalking.
Peggy Whipple, 44, of Portage Street Northwest, was booked at the Stark County Jail Sept. 11. She is accused of striking a man several times during an argument at the residence.
— Identification theft
A Torrey Pines Circle Northwest man told police Sept. 15 that during the previous six weeks, someone used his identity to get a credit
card and made $1,025 in charges.
— Credit-card theft
An Inwood Drive Northwest resident reported Sept. 13 that his credit card was lost in Chicago and 24 transactions totaling $2,531 were made without his knowledge.
— Thefts
An MP3 player and a laptop computer worth a total of $2,600 were stolen from a Canal Fulton man's vehicle while he was eating at a Belden Village Street Northwest restaurant.
A Morgantown, W.Va., man said a radar detector, GPS unit and personal checks, worth a total of $1,050, were stolen from his vehicle while parked at an East Boulevard Northwest location overnight Sept. 13-14.
A cell phone and cash worth a total of $500 were stolen from a Poplarwood Road Northwest man's vehicle while it was parked at the residence Sept. 13-14.
A Granite Street Northwest man reported Sept. 11 that seven fishing rods and reels and all of his fishing tackle, worth a total of $4,562, were taken from his covered boat while it was parked in his driveway.

— Theft
A Lake Township resident said a catalytic converter was stolen and a muffler and exhaust pipe were damaged, for a total loss of $1,800, while the vehicle was parked at the residence.
North Canton
— Arrest
A 14-year-old Cordelia Avenue Southwest boy was booked at the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center Sept. 12. He is accused of threatening two family members.
— Identification fraud
A North Canton man told police that someone removed $650 from his checking account to pay two businesses with whom he hasn't
had any dealings.
— Burglaries
A digital camera, portable PlayStation and 100 DVDs, worth a total of $1,650, were reported stolen Sept. 16 from an Everhard Road Southwest apartment.
An Orchard Avenue Northeast resident said $850 was stolen after his home was entered Sept. 8.

A catalytic converter and exhaust pipe worth a total of $1,200 were stolen from a Meadowview Drive Northwest man's vehicle while it was parked at a Whipple Avenue Northwest location Sept. 17.

Two flat-screen TVs worth $3,500 were taken from a Columbus Road Northeast furniture and appliance rental business, according to a Sept. 15 report.

A Pontius Road construction firm said Sept. 18 that over a two-month period, someone had taken $2,300.

An Oakmont Drive man reported Sept. 16 that someone made more than $500 in unauthorized charges to his credit card.

A purse containing credit cards was taken from a car parked at Copley Community Park, 3232 Copley Road, on Sept. 18. A window was broken to enter the car.
More than $500 was taken from a drawer in a Jacoby Road group home. The drawer was forced open.
Coventry Township

A cordless drill and cordless saw, with a total value of $500, were reported stolen from the garage of a South Bender Avenue home.

— Menacing
Zachary Zazo, 21, of Bancroft Road, was charged Sept. 19 with menacing, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing. Zazo's neighbor said she saw him throw eggs at the front door of her home. Zazo reportedly told police he threw the eggs in retaliation for the couple's 18-month-old son crying and waking Zazo. The child's father told police the child was crying because of a fall in the driveway while playing. The father told police that Zazo told him to control his child or that Zazo would do it for him.
Yushon T. White, 32, of Cleveland, was charged Sept. 20 with theft. He is accused of stealing a plasma television, valued at about $900, from Wal-Mart, 3750 W. Market St.

A Sony CyberShot 7.2 megapixel digital camera was found in the east drive of Rosemont Commons on West Market Street. A man turned in the camera to police.
— Passing bad checks
A woman bought two round-trip tickets to Amsterdam from Time to Remember Travel, 30 Shiawassee Ave., on Sept. 9. She paid with a personal check, which was returned for nonsufficient funds. The travel agency tried to contact the woman by mail, phone and e-mail, but the woman has not responded.
— Theft
A Dalton Drive woman reported Sept. 22 that someone stole her wallet from her unlocked car, then used the debit card to withdraw more than $700. She said her PIN number was in the wallet.
Three checks were stolen from BP, 3110 W. Market St. The theft was discovered by the manager Sept. 16.

Jason Candles, 26, of Southwood Drive, was booked at the Summit County Jail on a domestic violence charge Sept. 15 after another man said the suspect pointed a gun at him.
Brandye Dague, 33, of Sweitzer Road, was jailed in Summit County on Sept. 14. She is accused of kicking and hitting a man at the home.
Jeffrey Jagger, 47, of South Arlington Road, was jailed Sept. 11 after a woman said he started throwing her belongings around the house, spit in her face and threatened to harm her.

A pistol, jewelry and a DVD player, worth a total of $1,120, were reported stolen Sept. 16 from a Moore Road home.
— Passing bad checks
A Max Road woman said Sept. 12 that she received a check to deposit in her account and was told to transfer a portion of it to an agent in New York via Western Union. After following the instructions, she learned that the check was canceled, leaving her account with a negative $3,850 balance.

An Akron-Canton Airport charter airline service reported Sept. 12 that in the last two months, 680 gallons of fuel, worth a total of $2,358, have been taken from the firm's fuel farm at the airport.

— Passing bad checks
A Lakemore man told police Sept. 18 that he received a $4,250 check in the mail with instructions to deposit it in his account and withdraw $100. He learned later from the bank that the check was fraudulent.

Melissa Swartz, 37, of Boston Avenue, was booked at the Summit County Jail on Sept. 15 after a man said she punched him and bit his right ring finger during a confrontation at the home.

A Manchester Road resident said Sept. 12 that a DVD/VCR combo unit and cash, worth a total of $800, were stolen from her home.

Nathaniel R. Freund, 31, of Givens Drive, was charged Sept. 21 with domestic violence. He is accused of pulling a woman out of a van by her legs, then forcing her into the house. She was able to break free and ran to a neighbor's home.

A Norton Avenue women called Sept. 21 to report that a woman in a blue Chevrolet Blazer dropped off three cats in front of the caller's home. When she asked the woman what she was doing, the woman said she was ''moving the cats.''

Tools valued at $1,500 were taken from a shed in the 3700 block of Summit Road on Sept. 19. A report said someone pried back a steel lock cover to open the lock.

Stereo equipment and a notebook computer were stolen from a home in the 3600 block of Luray Drive Sept. 21.

A pharmacist from Ritzman's Pharmacy, 4047 Cleveland-Massillon Road, reported Sept. 18 that on Sept. 13, a man tried to have a fraudulent prescription filled. When the pharmacist called the doctor to confirm the order, the man left the store.

An 84-year-old Long Drive woman reported Sept. 17 that a caller who told her he was from her bank said two withdrawals had been made from her bank account. The woman called her bank and was told no one called her.

A man armed with a gun entered a Canton Road drive-through office Sept. 14 and fled with $475, police were told.

Teona Latten, 34, of West Union Street, was charged Sept. 17 with possession of crack cocaine. She was arrested after a search of her apartment by police and members of the Medina County Drug Task Force.
Sharon L. Johnson, 39, of Cleveland, was charged Sept. 17 with misuse of the 911 system. She is accused of calling 911 three times from an East Reagan Parkway address when there was no emergency.

Copper pipes were cut from air-conditioning units at three houses on Douglas Lane on Sept. 18.

Scott A. Mooney, 34, of West Salem, was charged Sept. 18 with furnishing false information to a peace officer, driving under suspension, and driving without a valid license. Mooney was stopped by police on Interstate 76 for an equipment violation. He is accused of giving the wrong name to an officer to avoid receiving a citation.
— Assault
A 14-year-old boy reported Sept. 22 that another teen stole his skateboard, then punched him on the back of the head. The skateboard was later returned.

Someone broke into a State Street apartment Sept. 21 and stole more than $200.

A Pioneer CD/radio combination and $150 were taken Sept. 20 from a car parked in the 200 bock of Water Street.

Eric Baldridge, 30, of Akers Avenue, Akron, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Sept. 16. He is accused of passing bad checks.
Lawrence Fenn, 59, of Ben Fulton Avenue, Lawrence Township, was jailed in Stark County on Sept. 12 by Canal Fulton police. He is accused of menacing by stalking.

A safe, cash and gift cards, worth a total of $2,634, were reported stolen Sept. 12 from a South Locust Street restaurant.
Jackson Township
— Arrests
Sandra Stephan, 59, of West Comet Road, Clinton, was booked at the Stark County Jail on Sept. 18 on a domestic violence charge after an altercation with her husband in their pickup truck as they drove in Jackson Township. Her husband, William Stephan, 59, also was booked at the jail, accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Lora Peaspanen, 37, and William Lynch, 64, both of Meadowview Drive Northwest, were charged with domestic violence Sept. 17. They are accused of striking each other during a confrontation that ended in their front yard.
Phillip Dula, 24, of Oakwood Avenue Northeast, Massillon, turned himself in to Jackson police on Sept. 14 on a warrant for felony domestic violence and criminal damaging.
Daniel Capalingo, 34, of South Cedar Street, East Canton, was jailed in Stark on Sept. 14 on a Jackson warrant charging him with menacing by stalking.
Peggy Whipple, 44, of Portage Street Northwest, was booked at the Stark County Jail Sept. 11. She is accused of striking a man several times during an argument at the residence.

A Torrey Pines Circle Northwest man told police Sept. 15 that during the previous six weeks, someone used his identity to get a credit
card and made $1,025 in charges.

An Inwood Drive Northwest resident reported Sept. 13 that his credit card was lost in Chicago and 24 transactions totaling $2,531 were made without his knowledge.

An MP3 player and a laptop computer worth a total of $2,600 were stolen from a Canal Fulton man's vehicle while he was eating at a Belden Village Street Northwest restaurant.
A Morgantown, W.Va., man said a radar detector, GPS unit and personal checks, worth a total of $1,050, were stolen from his vehicle while parked at an East Boulevard Northwest location overnight Sept. 13-14.
A cell phone and cash worth a total of $500 were stolen from a Poplarwood Road Northwest man's vehicle while it was parked at the residence Sept. 13-14.
A Granite Street Northwest man reported Sept. 11 that seven fishing rods and reels and all of his fishing tackle, worth a total of $4,562, were taken from his covered boat while it was parked in his driveway.
