Arrests

A Hardesty Boulevard man, 42, was charged with trafficking in drugs and possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia July 25 on North Case Avenue at Eastland Avenue. Police said they found 16 grams of marijuana in the man's vehicle.

An Arden Place woman, 46, was charged with felonious assault July 25 in the 1200 block of Ericsson Avenue. She is accused of slicing her boyfriend's hand with a knife.

A Roselawn Avenue boy, 17, and a Gage Street boy, 16, were charged with aggravated burglary July 19. They are accused of taking a laptop computer, BlackBerry, car keys and books from a home in the 200 block of Spicer Street.

A Joy Avenue man, 33, and a woman, 38, were charged with the illegal manufacturing of drugs, illegal possession of chemicals used for the manufacture of drugs, and possessing drugs, criminal tools and drug paraphernalia July 19. Police said they found methamphetamine, marijuana, illegal mushrooms and several chemicals used to make meth in the residence.

A Black Street man, 26, was charged with the illegal cultivation of marijuana July 21. He is accused of growing a marijuana plant on his front porch.

Shootings

A Sherman Street man, 47, was shot in the arm July 25 while standing in front of his home. Police said the man heard about five or six shots. Officers found four shotgun shells in the 800 block of Sherman.

A White Avenue man, 23, reported July 24 that two men kicked in the door of a home in the 1600 block of Dominion Drive and fired three shots.

A South Sunset View Drive man, 34, was shot in the side July 24 while in the 800 block of South Arlington Street.

Robberies

An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old reported July 22 that two armed men kicked down the door of a home in the 500 block of East Buchtel Avenue, ordered the women into the bathroom and robbed them. The men stole two cell phones, $50 and a shotgun.

An Akron man, 25, reported July 24 that he was robbed at knife point of $50 as he walked on Albrecht Avenue near Stetler Avenue.

Meth lab

A portable methamphetamine lab was found July 23 in the 1300 block of Coventry Street against a fence next to the highway, reports said. Police reported finding two plastic bottles with tubing and a white powdered substance in it and 1 gram of meth.

Rape

A woman, 24, reported July 21 that she was raped by two men during a party in the 1400 block of Alphada Avenue.

Barberton
Arrests

A 31st Street Northwest man, 41, was charged July 21 with assault and possession of marijuana. He is accused of assaulting a neighbor he thought had solicited his son for sex. The neighbor denied the charge. While being booked into the Barberton jail, police said, they found a bag of marijuana in the suspect's shoe.

A First Street Southeast man, 54, was charged July 20 with domestic violence, accused of assaulting his girlfriend.

A Dover Street man, 31, was charged July 23 with deception to obtain a dangerous drug. He is accused of using an altered prescription in an attempt to get a narcotic painkiller.

A woman, 25, and a man, 19, both of Wadsworth, were charged July 19 with possession of heroin. In addition, the woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. The man was also charged with tampering with evidence. During a traffic stop on Wooster Road West, an officer reported finding heroin and syringes.

A Third Street Northwest man, 37, was charged July 23 with felonious assault, accused of beating his mother's boyfriend. His mother told police her son was angry because her boyfriend had hit her earlier.

Burglary

A lockbox, sword and prescription medication were among the items taken July 17-21 from a home in the 100 block of East State Street.

Telephone harassment

An East Page Avenue man, 87, reported July 22 that he has received calls from someone claiming he won $5.5 million, but had to wire $460 to receive it. On one occasion, the caller made a threat. The man received a call while police were in his home taking a report. An officer told the caller to stop harassing the man.

Thefts

A 31st Street Southwest woman reported July 20 that she found an unauthorized debit on her bank account for $975.

Several cars in the city were broken into July 20-21. Cash and GPS units were among the items taken.

Identity theft

An Akron man reported July 20 that his ex-wife used his Social Security number for care at Barberton Hospital.

Someone stole a wooden carving of an eagle from the east lawn of CYO Camp Christopher, 1930 Hametown Road, between July 16 and 19.

Copley Township
Criminal damaging

Someone used mustard and nail polish July 18 to damage a driveway, garage windows and door at a home in the 400 block of Kings Court.

Thefts

A motorcycle was stolen July 18 from a shed behind a house in the 1200 block of Hametown Road.

A Betula Avenue woman, 81, reported July 22 that $80 was taken from her purse the previous day. The only other person in the house that day was a boy, 17, from a youth program who was doing yard work. The teen's grandmother repaid the cash.

Coventry Township
Burglary

A North Benton Avenue resident told Summit County sheriff's deputies that two shotguns, a revolver and compound bow, worth a total of $3,175, were taken July 20 from an upstairs bedroom at his home.

Theft

Two laptop computers, a GPS unit and other items worth a total of $1,150 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at North Long Lake Boulevard.

Cuyahoga Falls
Arrest

A Barberton boy, 17, was charged with stealing a car and fleeing and eluding police July 21. He is accused of stealing a car and leading Cuyahoga Falls and Akron police on a chase. Akron officers arrested the boy after the car crashed.

Thefts

The president of G.S. Steel reported July 20 that someone stole $7,254 in parts from an outside storage area in the 2400 block of Cavalier Trail.

A golf bag and clubs valued at $1,200 were reported stolen July 19 from a garage in the 900 block of Davis Avenue.

A laptop computer, a desktop computer, two jewelry boxes filled with jewelry, a watch, a digital picture frame, a DVD player, a Nintendo Game Cube console, a cell phone, an MP3 player and a $400 savings bond, worth a total of $2,472, were reported stolen July 17 from a home in the 1200 block of Curtis Avenue.

Fairlawn
Arrests

A Fairlawn woman, 20, was charged July 22 with theft. She is accused of failing to charge for more than $300 in merchandise for an Akron woman, 20, who went checked out at her register at Body Central in Summit Mall.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 50, was charged July 22 with two counts of passing bad checks. He is accused of writing checks on closed accounts in May for more than $300 to Village Tobacconist, 3265 W. Market St.

An Akron woman, 19, was charged July 21 with felony theft. She is accused of taking more than $600 in merchandise from Macy's at Summit Mall.

Green
Forgery

A Mayfair Road resident told police July 16 that she booked a photo shoot on Craig's List and then was sent a check for $1,950, with instructions to send half the money to a Georgia address for booking fees. A bank later notified her that the check was counterfeit.

Breaking and entering

A DeWalt Drive man told a deputy July 18 that someone flattened four tires, worth $1,000, on his vehicle.

Misuse of a credit card

An employee at Giant Eagle on Corporate Woods Parkway told authorities July 16 that she received a phone call from a man saying he was from the corporate office and that a Western Union machine in the store had a shortage. After she followed his instructions, she discovered that three transfers, worth $2,861, were sent to a prepaid Visa card.

Thefts

A Lancaster, S.C., woman reported that her $9,000 wedding ring was stolen from her room at the Quality Inn on Chenoweth Road.

An East Sparta man reported July 20 that tools and other items, worth a total of $2,725, were stolen from his truck bed at Nimisila Park.

A Chinese prayer statue valued at $2,000 was stolen July 16 from the Lion Garden on Arlington Ridge.

Someone broke a car window and stole a GPS unit July 22 from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Georgetown Road.

A homemade utility trailer valued at $1,000 was stolen from the yard of a Fairland Road home on July 21.

A Myersville Road man, 29, was arrested, accused of threatening to stab his mother with a knife.

A $550 laptop computer was stolen July 15 from an Edith Avenue residence.

Breaking and entering

Someone entered a pole barn at the Upper Tuscarawas Water Treatment Plant on Loamshire Road on July 18 and drove off in a lawn tractor pulling a trailer with a power washer. The car crashed through a chain-link fence, plunging the tractor and trailer, worth $9,000, into the water. The power washer wasn't found.

Thefts

An 18-foot enclosed trailer plus tools and equipment, worth a total of $14,015, were stolen July 19 from a Greenland Avenue driveway.

A GPS unit, two briefcases and other items, worth a total of $1,339, were stolen July 19 from a Beryl Road pickup truck.

Two bundles of chain-link fence, a car's rear axle and other items, worth a total of $800, were reported stolen July 19 from a Myersville Road home.

A Stow Road man, 44, was charged with domestic violence July 23. He is accused of pushing and threatening his wife.

A Kent Road woman, 50, was charged with domestic violence against her girlfriend July 23.

A Kent Road man, 19, was charged with theft and criminal damaging July 21 at Skip Playground. Reports said the man stole and damaged two cell phones.

Five rings and a necklace worth a total of $2,560 were reported stolen July 22 from a home in the 4900 block of Ridgewood Court.

A riding lawn mower valued at $1,500 was stolen from a property in the 1700 block of Ritchie Road.

Someone broke into the GNC nutrition store on Graham Road and stole $250 in supplements July 21.

An Akron man, 33, was charged with domestic violence July 25 in the 200 block of North Thomas Road. He is accused of grabbing the mother of his child and pushing her to the ground.

A Fawnwood Drive man, 18, was charged with theft and criminal trespassing July 22. He is accused of stealing items from vehicles along Mistwood Drive.

Someone smashed a car window July 20 in the 1100 block of Grovewood Drive and stole a GPS unit, 10 CDs and a garage door opener, worth a total of $355.

A Stuhldreher Street Northwest man, 26, was charged with domestic violence, aggravated menacing and using weapons while intoxicated July 25. He is accused of threatening his girlfriend and tossing her onto the garage floor and into a lawn tractor.

A Ridge Road Northwest, Canton, woman, 44, was arrested July 22 on a warrant alleging forgery, felony theft and misuse of a credit card.

An Echodale Street Northwest man, 28, was charged July 18 with domestic violence, interference with custody and obstructing official business. He is accused of a confrontation with the mother of his child. He fled the residence and she was taken to a hospital for treatment. He returned and took the boy, 2, before he was arrested.

A Wales Avenue Northwest woman, 49, and her daughter, 19, were charged with domestic violence July 18. Police said the mother admitted pushing her daughter in a quarrel and the daughter admitted kicking her mother in the back.

A Wales Avenue Northwest woman, 24, was arrested July 17 on a warrant charging felonious assault and criminal damaging.

Burglary

A PlayStation and three games worth a total of $770 were stolen July 18 from a Stuhldreher Avenue Northwest home.

Thefts

An Akron man told police July 21 that he had stayed at the Marriott Hotel on Metro Circle Northwest and forgot his $500 necklace when he checked out. The jewelry was missing when he returned.

Someone entered an unlocked pickup truck July 20 on Leecrest Street Northwest and stole a gold ring, digital camera and other items worth a total of $1,040.

A clerk at T-Mobile in Westfield Belden Village mall told police July 19 that he was with another customer when someone pulled two display phones and security cords, worth a total of $879, from the countertop and fled.

A North Lawrence man, 33, of Penford Street, was charged with domestic violence July 22.

An Easton Street Northeast man, 72, was charged with endangering children July 23, accused of leaving a 23-month-old child unattended in an unlocked car with the windows rolled up in the 1900 block of East Maple Street. Police said the heat index was 98 degrees.

A man, 54, of Lakota Avenue, Coventry Township, was charged with felony theft and aggravated trespassing at the Acme Supermarket on Cleveland Avenue Northwest, accused of leaving the store without paying. Police said he had previously signed an agreement not to enter the store again.

A man, 54, of Kenmore Boulevard, Akron, was charged with theft and trespassing July 22.

A Fields Street Northwest woman, 45, was charged with robbery July 23. She is accused of concealing several items in an empty purse and paying for only a couple of them before leaving the Fishers store on Market Avenue North.

A man, 20, of 19th Street Northwest, Canton, was charged with felony theft July 22 during an incident at the Kmart on Harmont Avenue Northeast.

Rape

A 34th Street Northeast man, 41, was being sought July 21 after a Canton woman told authorities that she was raped at his home.

Burglary

Authorities said that jewelry, a flat-screen TV and other electronic items worth a total of $5,850 were reported stolen from a Middlebranch Avenue Northeast apartment.

Theft

An Everhard Road Northwest resident reported July 15 that someone entered her home and stole a $17,000 watch and $1,000 handbag.

An Amber Circle man, 23, was charged with domestic violence July 23, accused of threatening to harm his girlfriend's father at the home where all three live.

A Pamela Avenue woman said July 20 that an iPod, digital camera and diamond pendant, worth a total of $2,819, were stolen from her home.

A GPS unit, a gold watch and other jewelry, worth a total of $7,395, were stolen July 18 from a Broad Vista Street home.

A Harding Street man, 38, was charged July 27 with domestic violence, accused of assaulting his estranged wife.

A Valley Drive man, 18, was charged July 24 with domestic violence, accused of choking a roommate.

A Springbrook Drive woman, 19, was charged July 22 with domestic violence, accused of assaulting her husband.

A man was arrested at Union Square on July 27 and turned over to Elyria police on warrants alleging obstructing official business and criminal damaging.

A Heather Lane resident reported July 27 that someone used his credit=-card information to buy more than $500 worth of pizzas in New York.

Theft

A passport, credit cards, driver's license, jewelry and cash were taken from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of West Liberty Street on July 27.

A Water Street woman, 28, was charged July 24 with child endangering, accused of passing out at home while intoxicated with her 1-year-old child.

Someone broke into a home in the 200 block of College Street and stole more than $300 in items July 24.

Police responded to First and Chestnut streets after getting a call about an unaccompanied toddler walking near the road. The boy was returned to his parents.

A Durling Drive man reported July 24 that someone used his name to set up a Twitter account and used obscene language in posts related to his car.

A Highland Avenue woman reported July 25 that someone charged more than $500 to her credit card June 26-29.

Someone wrote a check July 15 for $4,500 on an account of a Congress Township woman, 54.

Someone put a bag of gas in the neck of a gas tank of a 1994 Ford pickup truck July 22 and set it on fire in the 700 block of Industrial Boulevard.

A door was damaged July 26 at Friendly Wholesale, 655 Cushman Ave., but nothing was taken. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Someone kicked in a door July 26 and stole $25 from 300 Tire Service, 210 S. Buckeye St. Damage was set at $1,500.

Two Doylestown women, one 26 and the other 18, were charged with receiving stolen property July 28 in the parking lot of Taco Bell, 1839 Beall Ave. After getting an anonymous tip that guns were in a car, police said, they found weapons, a diamond ring and other items, worth a total of $2,208, that had been stolen from a Wadsworth home.

A Meadow Lane man wired a $12,800 money transfer July 20 to a fake eBay account to pay for a car that he had ordered but did not receive.

An Alliance man, 23, was charged July 25 with trafficking and possessing cocaine and crack cocaine after police stopped him for a traffic violation in the 200 block of South Market Street.

A Wooster man, 20, reported July 24 that three men punched and kicked him and cut his left hand at Spruce and West Vine streets.

An Akron woman, 19, was charged July 21 with felony theft. She is accused of taking more than $600 in merchandise from Macy's at Summit Mall.

A Mayfair Road resident told police July 16 that she booked a photo shoot on Craig's List and then was sent a check for $1,950, with instructions to send half the money to a Georgia address for booking fees. A bank later notified her that the check was counterfeit.

Breaking and entering

A DeWalt Drive man told a deputy July 18 that someone flattened four tires, worth $1,000, on his vehicle.

Misuse of a credit card

An employee at Giant Eagle on Corporate Woods Parkway told authorities July 16 that she received a phone call from a man saying he was from the corporate office and that a Western Union machine in the store had a shortage. After she followed his instructions, she discovered that three transfers, worth $2,861, were sent to a prepaid Visa card.

A Lancaster, S.C., woman reported that her $9,000 wedding ring was stolen from her room at the Quality Inn on Chenoweth Road.

An East Sparta man reported July 20 that tools and other items, worth a total of $2,725, were stolen from his truck bed at Nimisila Park.

The car crashed through a chain-link fence, plunging the tractor and trailer, worth $9,000, into the water. The power washer wasn't found.

Thefts

An 18-foot enclosed trailer plus tools and equipment, worth a total of $14,015, were stolen July 19 from a Greenland Avenue driveway.

A GPS unit, two briefcases and other items, worth a total of $1,339, were stolen July 19 from a Beryl Road pickup truck.

Two bundles of chain-link fence, a car's rear axle and other items, worth a total of $800, were reported stolen July 19 from a Myersville Road home.

An Echodale Street Northwest man, 28, was charged July 18 with domestic violence, interference with custody and obstructing official business. He is accused of a confrontation with the mother of his child. He fled the residence and she was taken to a hospital for treatment. He returned and took the boy, 2, before he was arrested.

A Wales Avenue Northwest woman, 49, and her daughter, 19, were charged with domestic violence July 18. Police said the mother admitted pushing her daughter in a quarrel and the daughter admitted kicking her mother in the back.

A Wales Avenue Northwest woman, 24, was arrested July 17 on a warrant charging felonious assault and criminal damaging.

A PlayStation and three games worth a total of $770 were stolen July 18 from a Stuhldreher Avenue Northwest home.

An Akron man told police July 21 that he had stayed at the Marriott Hotel on Metro Circle Northwest and forgot his $500 necklace when he checked out. The jewelry was missing when he returned.

Someone entered an unlocked pickup truck July 20 on Leecrest Street Northwest and stole a gold ring, digital camera and other items worth a total of $1,040.

A clerk at T-Mobile in Westfield Belden Village mall told police July 19 that he was with another customer when someone pulled two display phones and security cords, worth a total of $879, from the countertop and fled.

A man, 54, of Lakota Avenue, Coventry Township, was charged with felony theft and aggravated trespassing at the Acme Supermarket on Cleveland Avenue Northwest, accused of leaving the store without paying. Police said he had previously signed an agreement not to enter the store again.

A man, 54, of Kenmore Boulevard, Akron, was charged with theft and trespassing July 22.

A 34th Street Northeast man, 41, was being sought July 21 after a Canton woman told authorities that she was raped at his home.

Authorities said that jewelry, a flat-screen TV and other electronic items worth a total of $5,850 were reported stolen from a Middlebranch Avenue Northeast apartment.

An Everhard Road Northwest resident reported July 15 that someone entered her home and stole a $17,000 watch and $1,000 handbag.

Receiving stolen property

Two Doylestown women, one 26 and the other 18, were charged with receiving stolen property July 28 in the parking lot of Taco Bell, 1839 Beall Ave. After getting an anonymous tip that guns were in a car, police said, they found weapons, a diamond ring and other items, worth a total of $2,208, that had been stolen from a Wadsworth home.

Theft

A Meadow Lane man wired a $12,800 money transfer July 20 to a fake eBay account to pay for a car that he had ordered but did not receive.

Drug trafficking

An Alliance man, 23, was charged July 25 with trafficking and possessing cocaine and crack cocaine after police stopped him for a traffic violation in the 200 block of South Market Street.

Robbery

A Wooster man, 20, reported July 24 that three men punched and kicked him and cut his left hand at Spruce and West Vine streets.
