Cuyahoga Falls pedestrian killed after being hit by pickup

A 59-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was struck by a pickup shortly before 6 p.m. Friday as he walked along Bailey Road in Cuyahoga Falls and died shortly afterward, authorities said.

The man was not identified as of late Saturday other than he lived on nearby Oneida Avenue.

Police said the man was hit in the roadway by a Ford F-150 pickup at Bailey Road and Northmoreland Boulevard. The 43-year-old pickup driver was uninjured.

The Summit County medical examiner’s office said the 59-year-old man was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m.

The incident is being investigated by the Summit County Metro Crash Team and the medical examiner’s office, Cuyahoga Falls police said. No additional information was available.
