Today will be a great day to enjoy the sunshine — from the safety of your warm home or office.

Yet another blast of cold weather has settled in over Akron.

The cold snap started overnight when the temperatures were expected to dip near zero and will continue through the afternoon with the mercury struggling to reach the teens.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory through noon today and warns it might have to be reinstated tonight through Saturday as the mercury flirts with zero or below.

Brisk winds are expected to plunge the wind chill to between 10 and 20 degrees below zero early today and Saturday morning.

The weather service advises anyone who has to venture out during this extreme cold to cover exposed areas of skin and not stay out very long. The service warns that frostbite is a risk for those outside for an extended period of time.

Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing through next week, when the temperature is expected to be in the 30s on Thursday.

Snow is expected to return to the Akron area Saturday night into Sunday.
