Drive under way to replace home
State Rep. Zack Milkovich, D-Akron, is leading a fundraising drive to help find a new home for Army veteran Larry Modic, whose Manchester Road house will be demolished this week by the city of Akron.
Milkovich said he is looking for a new place in the same Summit Lake area and has identified several houses in the neighborhood that are $10,000.
He has pledged $1,000 of his own money to start the house fund.
“My heart just went out to Larry,” Milkovich said. “He has served our country for many years. I think he deserves support from the community that he has devoted his career to protect. He deserves a break.”
If you would like to contribute, you can donate online to http://SaveLarrysHouse.com or call Milkovich directly at 330-810-2007.
There will also be a fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 3 Point restaurant, 45 E. Market St.
Donations also can be made from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at 1480 Manchester Road, where Milkovich and Modic will be watching the demolition of the house.
