Four men were stabbed during a fight outside a popular club early Monday morning.
According to Lt. Rick Edwards, Akron police department spokesman, officer rushed to the Bungalow Five night club, 2511 Romig Road, to quell a fight between a large group of individuals.
When officers arrived they found four men, who said they had been stabbed. All four victims were taken by EMS to area hospitals for treatment.
Police located the man the victims identified as their assailant — 22-year-old Derek D. Smoot — in the 800 block of Mercer Avenue.
Edwards said when officers approached Smoot he attempted to throw a knife behind a building, but the kinfe was recovered and Smoot was taken into custody.
In addition to being charged with four counts of felonious assault, stemming from the stabbing, Smoot was also charged with possession of crack cocaine, carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with evidence.
Smoot is being held in the Summit County jail.
