GREEN: After four years without an assistant superintendent, the Board of Education on Monday reinstated the position with one of its own and also promoted two others from assistant principals to the top jobs at their respective schools.
Kevin Finefrock was promoted from Green Primary School principal to assistant superintendent at a salary of $95,172. His duties will include coordinating the Students With a Goal (SWAG) and the Extended School Year programs for this year.
Succeeding Finefrock at Green Primary School will be Assistant Principal Scott Shank, whose salary will be $71,070. The assistant principal’s position there is being abolished.
Meanwhile, Jeff Wells, assistant principal at Green Middle School, has been promoted. He succeeds Jeff Miller at a salary of $79,104. His assistant has yet to be named.
Miller was chosen as the district’s superintendent in June.
Finefrock is a 13-year educator, including six years in Green, where he served as assistant high school principal and principal at Kleckner Elementary before it was closed in 2011. He had been principal of Green Primary the past two years.
Wells has spent nine of his 12 years in education at Green, including two years as assistant principal at the high school and the past five years as assistant at the middle school.
Shank is in his seventh year as an educator, all in Green, having taught first grade at primary school for five years and last year as assistant principal.
The promotions take effect Aug. 1.
Principals Cindy Brown (Green High), Mark Booth (Green Intermediate School) and Scott Aten (Greenwood Early Learning Center) will continue in their positions.
