Beacon Journal staff report
Authorities have identified the body of a woman found Saturday in a shed behind a Maplepark Road residence in Stow.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office said the victim is Michelle Johnson, 21, who lived in the residence.
She died of “sharp-force injuries to the neck,” according the autopsy.
The death has been ruled a homicide.
The woman’s mother called police Saturday after not having contact with her daughter for two days.
Stow police responded to the residence and ultimately found the remains under blankets and laid inside a shed.
“The officer passed by an open shed near the rear door of the residence when he saw what appeared to be a hand protruding from underneath a pile of blankets in the shed,” Police Chief Louis Dirker stated in a news release. “The officer checked further and found that there was a body under the blanket.”
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
