Robbers shut out
CUYAHOGA FALLS: Police were seeking two men who attempted to rob the Pizza Hut restaurant at 2983 State Road on Friday night.
While the restaurant manager and two workers were standing outside the back door on a break, one of the employees was grabbed around the neck from behind by a robber and told to get down, police said.
The manager was able to get back in the rear door of the business and secure the door behind her, police said.
Police said the two robbers told the two remaining employees to open the door, but they said they could not. The robbers then ran away.
The robbers were in their late teens to early 20s and wore bandanas over their faces. One robber was holding a silver handgun, police said.
The employees were not hurt and nothing was stolen. Anyone with information should contact the Cuyahoga Falls detective bureau at 330-971-8334.

Senator to speak
COPLEY TWP.: State Sen. Nina Turner, D-Cleveland, will be the featured speaker at the Federated Democratic Women of Summit County’s annual holiday luncheon on Saturday.
The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at St. George’s Fellowship Centre, 3204 Ridgewood Road. It will feature international holiday cuisine.
Turner has been identified as a potential candidate for Ohio secretary of state in 2014.

Open house
KENT: LoveLight will host an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at 154 N. Water St.
The open house will celebrate 17 years of service, the start of the organization’s campaign to purchase a building for the STAR Institute, which will include a child development and learning center, and the start of its new program Tutoring Plus.
The Tutoring Plus program is designed to work with students, parents and teachers to develop skill areas needing improvement and to identify and address underlying factors causing learning and other difficulties.
