Professional: Prior to joining the city, worked as a lawyer specializing in mediation. In the 1960s and 1970s, was a journalist and broadcaster.
Civic involvement: Founding president of Inventure Place, leading a group of volunteers who attracted the National Inventors Hall of Fame to Akron. Co-founder of Leadership Akron. Headed the Imagine Akron: 2025 process that examined the city’s future. Has served on and headed numerous local boards.
