College prep panel available at local church

A forum to help parents and students prepare for college will be at 7 p.m. Friday at First Apostolic Church, 790 Easter Ave., Akron.

The college prep panel discussion targets students in grades eight to 12. The panel will include Kelly Davidson, academic adviser at Ohio University and representatives from the University of Akron. UA panelists are Fedearia Nicholson, director of multicultural development; Dee Dee Pitts, director of advertising services, and Stancy Sykes-Cade, academic adviser.

The goal of the panel is to help prepare students for gaining admission to college and to offer advice for their high school years. Panelists will also answer questions from those in attendance.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Generation Unplugged Parent Alliance. Generation Unplugged is the youth ministry of the church. The ministry is designed to help young people develop spiritually, academically, emotionally and physically. For more information, call 330-762-9139.
