Summit County Clerk of Courts Daniel Horrigan was elected president of the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association, which provides clerks of court in all 88 counties with monthly educational seminars, news about emerging technologies and more.
Northeast Ohio painter Joseph O’Sickey, an emeritus art professor at Kent State, is a winner of the 2013 Governor’s Award for the Arts in Ohio. He was a winner in the individual artist category.
Ohio State Patrol Trooper William F. Lee of Green, son of Michael and Ritsuko Lee of Minerva, was promoted to sergeant at the Hiram post. He joined the patrol in May 1993.
Education
Nicole Hadler, daughter of Gary and Elizabeth Hadler of Medina, received a conditional letter of appointment from the U.S. Naval Academy. She is a captain on the Highland High tennis and cross country team and has volunteered as a hymn accompanist, camp counselor and National Honor Society tutor.
Communication student Natalie Winer, daughter of Ronald Winer and Kathryn Greenwald Winer of Copley, was inducted into the Eta Eta chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national communication honor society at John Carroll University.

Marine Corps Pfc. Joseph L. Proof, son of Theresa and Banjo L. Proof of Stow, graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 2012 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School.
Air Force Airman Paige M. Benson, daughter of Renee Benson-Ludle of Akron, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. She is a 2010 graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School, Akron.
Air Force Airman Luke T. Freeman, son of Martha Halley of Akron, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is a 2011 graduate of Green High School.
Air Force Reserve Airman Zachary R. Nusbaum, son of Melissa Pessefall and Aaron Nusbaum, both of Fairlawn, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is a 2010 graduate of Copley High School.
Marine Corps Pfc. Sharon J. Dotson, daughter of Wanda G. Riley of Cuyahoga Falls and Raynard Dotson of Akron, graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. She is a 2008 graduate of Ellet High School.
