Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, will be the subject of four programs in the coming week in Tallmadge, Ravenna and Kent.
A program sponsored by the Tallmadge League of Women Voters will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium at Tallmadge Middle School, 484 East Ave.
Speakers will include Jack Shaner, public affairs director of the Columbus-based Ohio Environmental Council, and state Rep. Anthony DeVitis, R-Green.

There will be an informational program at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at Ravenna High School, 6589 N. Chestnut Ave. (state Route 88).

There will be an informational meeting at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Kent United Church of Christ, 1400 E. Main St.
It is being sponsored by Concerned Citizens Ohio. Speakers include anti-fracking activists Ron Prosek and Vanessa Pesec.
The Kent Environmental Council will hold the program Regulating Gas Drilling: Fracturing Our Democracy on Feb. 21.
The program will be held at Kent Presbyterian Church, 1456 E. Main St. There will be a potluck dinner at 6 p.m.; the program will begin at 7:15 p.m.
The main speaker will be Pesec, a leader in the Northeast Ohio Gas Accountability Project, a grassroots group.
