Scentsy supplies Santa
Major kudos to the more than 30 Canton area Scentsy consultants who recently donated 253 Sasha Bears — the corporation’s charitable-cause buddies — to Children’s Hospital so that every child who is a patient there on Christmas gets something special from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
In addition to the donated buddies, valued at $7,000, Scentsy also is donating to Ronald McDonald House.

Project R.I.S.E. thanks UA
Debra Manteghi, — who heads Akron’s Project R.I.S.E., a federally funded collaboration with Akron Public Schools, local shelters and the community at large to serve homeless students — is grateful to members of the University of Akron’s Association for the Education of Young Children for its gift of 110 bundles containing socks, mittens, gloves and hats.
“Cassie Clark, the president of UAEYC, organized the drive and has been involved with the group for the past three years,” Manteghi said. “Faculty adviser Dr. Susan Witt started the group seven years ago.”
Close-knit group donates
Major thanks to Tallmadge St. Mark Lutheran Church’s Knitting and Crocheting Group for its gifts to the community. “These items were completed by a group of only 12-20 — not a large group but a dedicated one,” Diane Pencin, spokeswoman for the group, said. “They enjoy the time spent together that provides fellowship, introduces new skills, and shares tips and materials.” The group completed the following:
• 28 pairs of slippers and 24 lap robes for the Veterans Hospital.
• 35 preemie booties and 28 preemie hats, 20 Project Linus blankets, 77 IV wrist covers and two isolette covers.
• 14 full-size afghans for the Battered Women’s Shelter.
• A pillow and two hats for Good Neighbors.
The Knitting for Charity group is open to all ages. Beginners are welcome. They meet 7 p.m. every Monday in the third-floor lobby of the Danbury, 1695 Queens Gate Circle, Cuyahoga Falls. For information, please call 330-686-1086 or visit www. stmark-lutheran.org.
Green Primary class act
Major kudos to the Irish Kuwatch’s first-grade class at Green Primary School who filled 30 gift bags with a new toy, crayons, a winter cap, gloves, books, personal-care items, snacks and more for students in Amy Zarembka’s first-grade class at Akron’s Leggett Community Learning Center.
The bags, along with supplies for the entire school, were delivered Friday by Valerie Wolford, communications coordinator, City of Green, and members of Leadership Akron (Class 28).
